Fused Glass Diva

Fused Glass Diva Where fused glass and painting come together in the most peculiar way. Original, functional art . I have been a glass artist for most of my adult life.

"Layers of glass in combination with enamel paint, heat and gravity come together resulting in quirky outcomes, giving it a quaint folk art physicality that is part of the charm." Starting out with lead came stained glass, and traditional glass painting. In fact, I love it so much I started www.cranberrystainedglass.com in October 2005 and I am still going strong. My journey into fused glass actua

lly started with a colourful set of pottery kitchen canisters that I purchased from a local artist Sharon Fiske, of Clay Works. I loved the colours and the flow of the pattern and was inspired to make a stained glass window to compliment them. I designed several windows in the foil and solder technique and was never happy with the heavy look of the cut lines. I wanted a much lighter look that you can only get from transparent glasses being layered and fused together.

I have loved fused glass from the very first day I was introduced to it. I love the freedom of seamless colour change, the fluidity of melted glass, the physical manipulation achieved with temperature, gravity and tools and the ability to make three dimensional objects.

One of the best things about fused glass is the practicality of the pieces I love to create. To me...it is the very definition of "Functional Art".

I create it, I use it, and I enjoy it!

This is a rarity! The Yarmouth Tartan is a regional tartan representing Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. It was designed by Saul Gillis in the 1960s. This was a special order.

Interpreting yourtartan in fused glass offers a striking and meaningful evolution of this age-old symbol. Glass brings a new dimension to tartan design, transforming it from something you wear into something you experience. Light passes through it, shifts across it, and brings each colour to life in a way fabric simply cannot. The intersecting lines and hues become luminous, dynamic, almost alive.

S**t happens!...SH*T....SH*T...SH*T!

The kiln Gods gifted me thismorning! ...and then I had to make holes for standoffs!

...and there is no way to fix it!
Back to the drawing board!
Anyone else day drinking?

(This is sitting on my light table...backlit. The light is bright white for painting but photos have a yellow tint! I "was" really happy with the natural light colour. )

Of course this had a deadline too! UG!

Attempt #2 starting after lunch. Being hangry is not going to help the situation! I think I will have a 12 oz chardonay to go with my tomato sandwich!

My own tartan design! Published with the Scottish Register of Tartans! The Lighthouse Tartan.

Inspiration for the colours in this tartan are from the beautiful and iconic lighthouse in Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada. Dark blue is the colour of the North Atlantic Ocean, white, white caps, and the lighthouse structure, red the beacon light, grey the barren granite, and black, the danger zone at the water’s edge and to remember those who have been lost at sea.

Platters, plates, sconces, tealights and nightlights available in almost every Clan! Check with the Lori!
