Many years ago, I was drawing a picture that I had envisioned for some time. After getting it started, I began work on the mountains in the background. For the life of me, I couldn’t get them to look like they were in my head! I spiralled into frustration and finally took that drawing and folded it in half, creasing the paper and throwing it into a book.
Fast forward a couple of years when I discovered this picture again. I opened it and stopped dead. You see…it was perfect! I remembered the frustration and wrecking the drawing and yet as I stood there staring at it, with tears in my eyes.
It. Was. Perfect! Just as I envisioned in my mind.
Lesson learned…when you hit the “ugly” space of creating. WALK AWAY!!! Take a break, and you will see it with fresh new eyes! The beauty will inevitably show itself. Or…it will show where changes need to be made.
This my dear friends is what has been happening for me the last few months. I hit the “ugly” space in creating my life. I moved most everything from the old store to upstairs, an attempt to start something new. However, upon being up there, I could not find myself settling in, I needed space, for fresh eyes.
This time away has shown me the parts of my own drawing, the parts of my journey that stand out as beauty, and the parts that need to be changed. What needs to change is my presence at the store.
I will be closing this new space, even though I had just only begun to build there. I am taking from the past what I cherish, but truth be told, all the parts I cherish are within me. It’s not the space, it’s not the products, it’s not items, it’s just me.
I know you have been super patient awaiting the next step, and I hold much gratitude for this!! Those parts are becoming more and more clear! Before I begin those steps though, I first must close this chapter all together.
I am currently in the process of selling off all my furniture. Clearing out and making room for what my life drawing desires next! I’m excited for the next step…because often, after walking away, what you create next will embody profound meaning, passion, and a soul driven spirit.
