So you want to refinish your own table because it's too pricey to hire someone to do it for you?

Just another bump in the road that literally never changes. Why this happened I don't know. But this is the challenge when you refinish something old.
This was sanded down to bare wood.
Likely caused by the old clear coat soaking is further in the dark spots. So I'll sand it back down and do it again. This time with oil based polyurethane.

Wet sanding up to 400 grit is done. Now to learn how to airbrush. I have never done it before. Can't be that hard. I can't just keep this too simple.

Started restoration on an APR wing.
From test fitting to the first coat of epoxy.
Will be forged carbon fiber on top and keeping the carbon fiber weave on the bottom.

I finally got this figured out. I can't believe I'm saying that. If you have ever tried to get a flawless finish on a black surface you know the struggle.
Still a few imperfections to fix. I know I got this now!
I'm so grateful to this client for being patient with me. No matter what this was a challenge I wasn't going to let beat me. The knowledge I gained from this far outweighed the financial gain.

Clear coat going down on this table and the grain is starting to pop.

This stage brings out the depth of the wood while building a smooth, durable finish that’ll last for years. A few more coats and it’ll be ready.

*Was just sprayed, it will dry clear.

This piece will be available for sale soon.

Sprayed with waterbase polyurethane, semi gloss with an warm amber tone.

Here is a before and after of two headboards that were fixed because of a horizontal crack due to the material shrinking over time.
As simple as this fixe looks it was more time consuming than you would think. The pillars had to be removed to glue and clamp the headboard back together. The original finish was a wax, took quite a bit of time to remove it to sand down and make the crack disappear.
Then I blended some stain to match the original look. I applied wax to get back the old look.

Picked up these old, worn-out chairs that have definitely seen better days. Stained fabric and tired finish… but that’s exactly what makes a great restoration project!

The plan:
🔨 Strip and refinish the wood
🧼 Replace the cushions
🎨 Bring them back to life with a fresh, updated look
