There are moments where stillness feels more powerful than movement.

A fox paused beneath the aurora.
The sky in motion.
The earth holding steady.
Everything balanced in one frame.

Arctic Sentinel is about that kind of contrast.
Quiet against spectacle.
Stillness against motion.
Something small standing inside something vast and not being swallowed by it.

That is what drew me to this one.
It feels like winter, instinct, and awe all meeting at once.

"Moose's Arrival"
By: Brent Keough

Moose came into our lives
small enough to fit against my chest,
but somehow carrying
a whole new chapter inside him.

The same bloodline as Spud.
A familiar thread
running through a brand-new heart.

There is something comforting in that.
Knowing a piece of where we have been
has found its way
into where we are going.

But Moose is already his own little soul.

He has discovered my beard
and decided it belongs to him.
He chews on it
like he is trying to pull every serious thought
right out of my head.

And somehow,
it works.

Because when he looks at me
with those small, trusting eyes,
the noise gets quieter.
The future feels softer.
And I remember that life
does not always announce its next chapter
with some grand arrival.

Sometimes it climbs into your arms,
bites you gently on the chin
and falls asleep
like it has always belonged there.

I thought we were bringing Moose home.

But maybe Moose
was bringing something home in me.

A tenderness I still had room for.
A patience I did not know I needed.
Another reason to slow down,
to laugh at the mess
and stop trying to understand every turn
before I reach it.

He does not know about the life
we have already lived.

He does not know the roads behind us,
the storms we have carried
or how much Spud has taught us
about loyalty, comfort
and the quiet ways a dog becomes family.

Moose only knows now.

This lap.
This beard.
This voice.
This home.

And maybe that is what
he has come here to teach me.

That the next chapter
does not ask us to forget the last one.

It carries the best parts forward.

Spud’s blood may run through him,
but Moose will make his own paw prints
across our floors,
through our routines
and eventually,
all over our hearts.

He has already started with mine.

So here we go, Moose.

Into the chewed shoelaces,
the sleepless nights,
the muddy paws
and the memories we do not even know
we are about to make.

You arrived as a puppy.

But you already feel
like part of the story.

Not a replacement.
Not a repeat.

A continuation.

The same thread.
A different soul.

And the beginning
of something beautiful.

Some pieces carry a little extra pride in them.

Puffin Up North is about northern identity, colour, and that unmistakable feeling of being from a place that has its own edge to it.
Canadian, yes.
But also coastal.
Also rugged.
Also full of character.

I like this one because it feels playful while still carrying that sense of place.
It does not need to shout where it belongs.
You can feel it.

All set up and absolutely buzzing for the 40th Annual Lewisporte Mussel Bed Soiree!

It’s such a thrill to bring Driftwood Creations to a celebration that has been part of this community for four incredible decades.

The table is loaded with puffins, Hands of Time artwork, canvas prints, coasters, bookmarks and plenty of “Do You Know the Puffin Man?” stickers. There’s a little piece of Newfoundland in everything here.

I can’t wait to meet new faces, catch up with familiar ones and take in the festivities. If you’re in Lewisporte, come by, say hello and see what catches your eye!

Let the 40th celebration begin!

Maybe It’s Time

Maybe your home is still decorated for a version of you that no longer exists.

Because just as life changes, so do we. Our homes grow with us, too — and sometimes, the pieces on our walls deserve to reflect the season of life we’re in now.

There’s something beautiful about choosing art that feels personal. Pieces that bring meaning, warmth, and a sense of belonging to the spaces we call home.

Your home has grown with you. Maybe your art can, too.

There is something timeless about a ship and a lighthouse sharing the same frame.

One moving.
One standing.
One searching.
One guiding.

Voyage of Discovery is about that relationship.
The pull of the unknown and the comfort of something that helps bring you home again.

This piece reaches into the deeper maritime spirit of Newfoundland.
Exploration, endurance, and the long relationship between sea travel and survival.
It feels historic, but it also feels human.

"What My Nose Knows"
By: Spud

You keep telling me to hurry.

Come on, Spud.
Keep moving.
We have somewhere to be.

But I have never understood
why somewhere else
is always more important
than where we are.

You see a trail.

I see a thousand stories
written into the ground.

A rabbit passed through here.
Rain rested on that stone.
The wind carried something familiar
from a place I have never been.

And then there are the flowers.

Small blue bells
growing between rocks
that look too hard
to hold anything gentle.

You walk past them.

I stop.

Not because I am tired.
Not because I have forgotten
where we are going.

I stop because they are here.

Because something beautiful
pushed through stone
without asking anyone
if there was room.

You call it smelling the flowers.

I call it paying attention.

You measure a good day
by how far you travelled,
how much you finished,
how many things
you managed to carry.

I measure it
by the wind against my face,
the earth beneath my paws,
and whether you remembered
to look around.

Maybe that is why
you brought me with you.

Not so you could teach me
where to walk,

but so I could remind you
when to stop.

The trail will still be there.

The world can wait
a little longer.

Come closer.

Breathe.

There is something beautiful here
trying to tell us
we have already arrived.

Some of the biggest moments in life start with a small lean toward something unknown.

A glance.
A pause.
A pull you cannot quite explain.
And then something in you chooses to move closer instead of backing away.

Curiosity Wins is about that instinct.
The part of us that wants to know.
To explore.
To risk a little certainty for the sake of discovery.

I love what this one carries.
Caution is real.
But so is wonder.
And sometimes wonder deserves the win.
