Blind Date With a Book - Choose between fiction and non-fiction! Fiction books include Historical Fiction, Realistic Fiction, and Young Adult (although I find these YA novels enjoyable even as an adult). Currently available non-fiction books are Biographies.

I cannot guarantee the genre or author but if you have any concerns about subject matter (in case you are purchasing for a younger reader, etc.), feel free to contact me and I will do my best to choose something suitable.

"Kira-Kira", meaning glittering or shining, centres around Katie and her older sister Lynn, Japanese-American girls in 1950s Georgia. Katie looks up to her older sister, who she views as sensible, independent, and positive.

A number of changes in their lives affect their relationship, and a tragedy leaves Katie to cope alone. But she never forgets Lynn's advice to view all the good things around them as "Kira-Kira".

She remembers the friends she made in university, with their unique personalities, and all the interesting conversations they had on various issues that impacted their lives. And her unorthodox professor, who taught her a new way to look at divinity. Eventually, she is forced to remember the scandal that broke them apart.
