INTERNATIONAL NOTEBOOK DAY ✍️📓
In a world filled with constant notifications, endless tabs, and digital overload, there’s something incredibly grounding about putting pen to paper.

Writing by hand activates different parts of the brain than typing. It helps improve memory, focus, creativity, processing, and even stress reduction. Daily analogue habits like journaling, list-making, sketching, planning, or simply slowing down long enough to write a thought can have a powerful impact on overall brain health and mental clarity.

So today, on International Notebook Day, we’re celebrating the simple magic of a fresh notebook and the small rituals that help us reconnect with ourselves.

A few ways to celebrate:
✏️ Crack open a brand new notebook
✏️ Start a daily journal or gratitude practice
✏️ Write your to-do list by hand instead of on your phone
✏️ Brainstorm your next big idea on paper
✏️ Visit your local stationery shop and find tools that inspire you to create

At Rural Commons, we strongly believe that analogue tools still matter. Not just for productivity, but for creativity, focus, connection, and wellbeing. Whether you’re a paper lover, planner enthusiast, creative thinker, or someone simply craving a slower pace, we’d love to help you find your next favourite notebook.

Come spend some time with us in the shop, explore our stationery collection, grab a coffee, or settle into the coworking space for a quiet afternoon of writing and planning.

📍 Visit us in Erin and celebrate International Notebook Day the analogue way.

We’re excited to welcome Crumb & Berry for a special pop-up at Rural Commons in Erin, just in time for Mother’s Day and the Victoria Day long weekend.

In the days leading up to Mother’s Day, indulge in beautifully crafted floral buttercream mini cakes and cupcakes. Almost too pretty to eat (almost!). You’ll also find a selection of delicate meringues, cookies, and other small treats, perfect for gifting… or enjoying yourself.

Then, as we roll into the long weekend, expect a fresh lineup of seasonal sweets designed to celebrate warmer days and relaxed gatherings.

Behind it all is founder Emily Smith, whose passion for baking began on her family farm in Caledon. Surrounded by fresh eggs and local ingredients, she developed a love for creating simple, high-quality baked goods, something that still defines Crumb & Berry today. What started as a love for cupcakes quickly grew into a thriving custom bake shop.

Whether you’re picking up something special for Mom or treating yourself for the long weekend, this is one pop-up you won’t want to miss.

We’re excited to welcome Amanda Nicole White of Broadside Quilts for a special pop-up at our retail collective in Erin from May 26–31 🌿

Amanda is an artist and farmer based in Terra Cotta, Ontario, whose work beautifully bridges the seasons. In the summer, she grows cut flowers and a variety of dye plants on her farm. In the winter, she transforms those harvests into richly coloured, naturally dyed textiles and handcrafted quilts.

This pop-up will feature a gallery-style showroom of her quilts, along with an inside look at her creative process; from growing and harvesting dye plants, to experimenting with colour and chemistry, to piecing each quilt together by hand.

Each quilt is a true labour of love, made to last for generations.
✨ Come explore the story behind the stitches
✨ Learn about natural dyeing techniques
✨ Discover one-of-a-kind, heirloom-quality quilts

Custom quilt commissions are also available.

Join us in celebrating slow craft, seasonal colour, and thoughtful making. See you there!

Local makers interested in hosting their own pop-up are encouraged to reach out to us at [email protected]
