☘️ Come Travel With Me
Chapter Four — Why I Keep Going Back
I've been fortunate to travel to many wonderful places.
But there are some places that fill my soul in a way I can't quite explain.
Ireland is one of them.
I've been there before. I've walked its roads, explored its villages, visited its castles and textile treasures, been fortunate to teach and lecture for guilds and groups, and shared it with wonderful travellers.
And yet...
I keep going back.
Why?
Maybe it's the way the landscape seems to change every few minutes.
One moment you're driving through brilliant green countryside, and the next you're standing beside the sea with wind coming off the Atlantic.
Maybe it's the villages—with their colourful buildings, little shops, flowers spilling over stone walls and, if you're lucky, the sound of traditional music drifting through an open door.
Maybe it's the history.
The stories woven into ancient castles, ruined abbeys, old mills and the landscapes themselves.
Or perhaps it's simply the people.
That warmth.
That wonderful Irish ability to make a conversation with a complete stranger feel like you've known each other forever.
And then there are the textiles.
Linen.
Lace.
Wool.
Weaving.
Embroidery.
The hands and stories behind them.
That's a particularly special part of Ireland for me—and one of the reasons I love introducing my travellers to the Ireland that exists beyond the obvious tourist stops.
But perhaps the real reason I keep going back is simpler than all of that.
Ireland still makes me curious.
And I think that's one of the greatest gifts a place can give us.
The feeling that there's always something more to discover.
💚 Kim's Reflection
I don't think we ever truly finish discovering a place we love. We simply return with new eyes—and find something waiting for us that we didn't notice before.
And in 2027, I'm going back.
I'd love for you to come with me.
