It has been 6 years today since I opened Little Blue Fibre Studio. It was the start of a pandemic, I was pregnant with my first, and I was trying to open a brand new business after leaving my career as an occupational hygienist. I barely even remember that first year it was such a blur.

In this time, I have met the most incredible, kind, and talented makers in our wonderful community, have felt more love and support from so many people, and have learned SO much. The move to Old Strathcona has been the best decision; the surrounding businesses are wonderfully supportive and really are what make this area of town so amazing.

I have had two wonderful little girls (for those of you at Crafter Dark last night, you may know them as embroidery floss enthusiasts and floor mopping specialists) and continue to have to most supportive hubby and the best staff in the world.

It has been a wild, exhausting, and incredible ride. I can’t wait to see what the future brings.
Thank you for everyone who has made this journey possible.

We have Monks Cloth back in the shop!!! We no longer sell it by the yard BUT I am loving these precut sizes that come with the edges already serged! No more worrying about fraying or having to tape or baste (or serge!) your edges. We have three sizes in right now (10x10”, 24x24”, 34x46”)

Monks cloth is excellent for punch needle and can also be used for rug hooking and tufting.

We have .oxford punch needles in stock in sizes 10 regular, 10 fine, and 14 fine. We also have the Dritz (Morgan) No-Slip Hoops as well as quilting hoops in stock.

We have loaded up on in their sock yarn, eco fi*****ng 1-ply merino, and marsh mohair. Stunning colours!

New classes starting this month and a reminder Crafter Dark is this evening, 6 - 8 pm!

JUNE 29TH: Kid's Summer Knitting Camp.

Summer Breeze is a beginner-friendly design. It's a great pattern for knitters at the start of their garment making journey. Join us for three Thursday evenings in June for this lovely make.

Kid's Summer Knitting Camp is a week long morning session at the shop. We love seeing all the littles in the shop in our kid's-only classes. This daily knit camp will allow for focused learning and practice as they work through their project.

Join us over the summer solstice to make a beautiful lightweight top! The Summer Breeze top is a simple drop-shoulder top with no need for shaping. It is designed to be loose fitting with 10-15 cm (4-6") of positive ease. You can wear it as is or over a tank top. The top is worked in two separate pieces from the bottom up and sewn together at the shoulders and at the sides.

Please come to class prepared with your materials so that the class may start and end at the stated times. You can check our open hours if you need yarn caked up or help selecting your supplies before the class date. Registered students receive 10% off supplies if purchasing in store.

The pattern is designed by Mirella Moments. We have received permission to use this pattern and photo directly from the designer for this class. To see more by Mirella, please visit mirellamoments.com.

Skill Level: experienced beginner. Students should know how to cast-on, knit, purl, and bind off.

My cousins graciously contacted me as they were going through my late great aunt’s house to let me know there were a few things I might like to keep. I was able to find a few treasures and am so happy they have a home to be displayed and viewed by visitors.
The owl I remember as a kid when we would visit over the holidays and I love the cardinals and cherry blossoms. I think they fit in well!

I’ll post a few more pics soon of some of the neat items I found in the sewing boxes.
