We're so proud to show off this gorgeous crocheted blanket made by our very own Barbie, from New Glasgow! She created this piece for her brother, and we're lucky enough to have it on display in our store for everyone to admire.

Just look at the detail in this work — dozens of intricate granny squares, each with its own delicate pattern, anchored by a stunning centerpiece medallion in soft blues and creams. The amount of time, patience, and skill that goes into a project like this is incredible.

Next time you're in, stop by and see it in person — the craftsmanship really has to be seen up close to be fully appreciated. So much talent on our team! 🧶

Every year, one of our regulars walks in on the anniversary of his very first visit — and he never comes empty-handed. A handwritten card, a homemade cake, and a few words that remind us why we do this.

This year's note stuck with us: "Your staff has gone from being friendly to actually being friends."

That's it. That's the whole business, right there.

We sell fabric, but what actually keeps the lights on is people who turn a shop visit into a tradition. Thank you for another year, Daryl, and for the cake — it didn't stand a chance.

🧵💙 Vanessa from Dartmouth made her dress for Project Dress a Girl using one of our Mystery Bags — and honestly, it turned out gorgeous!

Her bag came with 3 different 1m cuts, all matching prints, which was more than enough for a full dress. Such an easy and affordable way to help out ($14.95 for the bag!) while using up that fabric stash energy for something good.

If you haven't heard of it — Project Dress a Girl Around the World collects handmade dresses for girls in need.

Last year's dresses went all the way to Ukraine and Uganda! We're doing it again this year with and , and we'd love your help.

Quick rundown for donation dresses:

🧵 Project Dress a Girl is back for 2026!

We’re so excited to team up with practical_stitches_ again this year for Project Dress a Girl Around the World! 💙

Last year, thanks to your incredible generosity, we collected hundreds of beautiful handmade dresses that were sent all the way to Ukraine and Uganda — bringing joy and hope to girls who needed it most. What an amazing thing to be part of! 🌍

Now it’s time to do it again. Bring your fabric stash to life and help us make every dress count!

A few important guidelines to keep in mind so every dress can be donated:

✅ Pull-over style, woven fabric (quilting cotton or linen preferred)
✅ At least 1 pocket (2 preferred)
❌ No zippers, buttons, or snaps
❌ No sheer fabrics or all-knit/T-shirt dresses
❌ No pillowcase dresses, licensed characters, or patriotic/religious prints
