Our staff is friendly, articulate and well-read – always interested in making a recommendation. We have a great selection of books, but we know that you might be looking for something which isn’t easily found in a small bookstore. If we don’

t have what you want in stock, we will be happy to special order any title which is currently in print. We even have an art gallery in the store, which shows the works of a different artist every month. For your convenience, we are open seven days a week from 10 AM to 5 PM, except for Saturdays, when we are open from 9 AM to 5 PM. We are closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day

The Wedding People by Alison Espach. K8's Pick: The perfect beach/dock/summer read! About starting afresh & the people we meet along the way.
>> Now out in paperback!

Seascraper by Benjamin Wood. Erin's Pick: A sleeper of a book exploring what happens when two worlds collide.

County Road Six by Kevin Hardcastle. Curiosity Pick: Signed copies in-store of this gorgeously written, super-local novel.

Contrapposto by Dave Eggers. Joel's Pick: A moving novel on art, friendship, and choosing creative passion over commercial compromise.

On the Calculation of Volume I by Solvej B***e. Curiosity Pick: Vol. 1 of 7 - novella-like speculative fiction on "what if you got stuck in a single day loop?"

🏆📚 The Booksellers' List: Summer Reads at Curiosity House Books 📚🏆

Independent booksellers across the country have spoken - here's a selection of what indies in Canada are raving about this summer.!

Come browse for these (and so many more)...

Cool Machine by Colson Whitehead. The climax of Whitehead's thrilling Harlem Trilogy - another brilliant visit to a lost New York, pulsing with music and some of the finest dialogue around. — John Toews, McNally Robinson Booksellers (MB)

Country People by Daniel Mason. The humour and deep humanity that animated North Woods are on full display, in a story overloaded with bizarre characters and modern-day confusion. — Andrew Fitzpatrick, Take Cover Books (ON)

The Wild Beneath by Kelly Anderson. 🌟 TOP PICK Voted the perfect summer read by indies nationwide. Lyrical, haunting, threaded with quiet magic. — Colin Holt, Bolen Books (BC). >> OUT NEXT WEEK!

You'll Love It Here by Natalie Sue. Loved I Hope This Finds You Well? This should be a hit - sharp workplace satire, darker and more biting, but still weirdly funny. — Stephen Davidson, The Spaniel's Tale Bookstore (ON)

Tata by Valérie Perrin. From the author of Fresh Water for Flowers - multiple characters' stories intertwine seamlessly, with mystery, history, trauma and family drama. — Marianne Smith, Black Bond Books (BC)

Haven't read Fresh Water for Flowers? K8 recommends that one too :)

Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt by Ben Reeves. A slow burn told by Death itself, personified by the gentle, caring Travis. Sure to spark discussion among the stacks. — Janet Broder, Blue Heron Books (ON)

Mistress of the Persian Boarding House by Marina Nemat. From the bestselling author of Prisoner of Tehran - a heart-filled story of survival, loss, and the strength of a found family. — Alison Dunn, Beggars Banquet Books (ON)

Our Wild Familiars by Dan Werb. An international lens on animals adapting to cities - stories that soften your heart, factoids to blow your mind. — Joshua Cockerill, Type Books Junction (ON)

Curiosity Picks coming next — stay tuned! ✨

📚 Another day another local author pops in to sign some books! How lucky are we to live in such a creative part of Canada 🇨🇦!?

Thank you for coming in to sign "A Picture Day to Remember". We only have two left - come and get yours today!

I remember ordering this book from the publisher based on the MAHOOSIF red hat on the front cover (I 🫶 that hat!). A girl who wants to hide under the red hat so no-one can see her freckles!

It's a book we can all get behind - a story about insecurities and self-confidence, but more importantly about friendship 🤗. Thank you for bringing such a wonderful story into the world Natalia. I've already put my order in for Natalia's next book - due out in November 📚

📚✍️ SIGNED COPIES ALERT ✍️📚

Look who popped into the shop today... Kevin Hardcastle! Author of County Road Six, stopped by and signed a stack of copies for us.

If you don't know the book yet: it's set right here in North Simcoe County, and frankly I could draw you a map of the farmhouse, the barn, the fields, and yes - County Road 6 itself - just from the writing. This one is properly local!

I only cracked it open yesterday and I already have oodles of respect for Mara, one of the three sisters at the heart of the story. Full review to come once I've properly lived in this book a while longer, but I don't need to tell you it's good; these folks already have:

📖 "These three sisters are among the strongest, most empathetic women characters one can find in literary fiction - since Charlotte and Emily Brontë were writing novels." —John Irving

📖 "Kevin Hardcastle has established himself as an eminent literary voice... This novel advances a new age of literary Canadiana that leaves the city in its dust." —Waubgeshig Rice

📖 "A sharp atmospheric descendant from the literary world of Winter's Bone." —Cherie Dimaline

📖 "Up there with the likes of Cormac McCarthy and Miriam Toews." —Casey Plett

Signed copies won't last... come grab yours while they're still on the shelf. 📖

Thank you for popping into our itty-bitty pink shop in Creemore!

📚 JULY CURIOSITY PICKS: Kids' Edition! 📚

Our team opened some recent boxes of books (best bit of the job!!) and have provided some picks for you... here's what's landed on our shelves (and in our hearts) this month! 💛

⚽ Kate's Pick: OFFSIDE by Christina Diaz Gonzalez & Mari Costa
We continue to build out our teenage graphic novels shelf, and this one's timely with the World Cup on! A great story about teams working together & winning together.

🧀 Joel's Pick: Mac & Cheese: The Origin Story by Michael L. Benner & Alison Hawkins
Packed with quality Dad jokes and puns about Joel's favourite childhood food. Who wouldn't want to know the origin story of Mac & Cheese?

🐱 Nancy's Pick: Negative Cat by Sophie Blackall
Based on a true story! Nancy especially adores this picture book about a rescue cat, its themes of connection and love, and its community spirit. The ending will inspire readers of all ages.

🐙 Octosprinklepuss's Pick: One Cheeky Octopus by Alastair Chisholm & Alex Willmore
Another fun octopus book to keep our shop mascot company - a hilarious counting book with Sylvester, who doesn't want to share his toys and games. Until, of course, he does 😊

🐹 Erin's Pick: 10 Shocking Facts About Capybaras by Melanie Watt
Capybaras are having a moment! Facts + funny red herrings = delight for kids everywhere. Big praise from her granddaughter: "I'm obsessed!"

🇨🇦 Curiosity Pick: Sleepless by Gordon Korman
Secretive magical serums, mysterious disappearances, and fast-paced dialogue for 7–11 year olds. If you loved any of Korman's 99 other books, you'll love this one too!

Come find your next favourite on our kids' shelves; and tell us which pick you're grabbing first! 👇

Anyone else as excited yet about the World Cup?! I picked up this cute FIFA bear and thought he’d be perfect for our footie table.

No FIFA octopuses to be found anywhere sadly 🐙.

I will be supporting both Canada and England (justFYI) until one or both go out. Or, of course actually win!!
