🎣 Angling Restrictions in Gros Morne National Park 🎣

‼️Please note that salmon angling does not open until June 15, 2026.

Before heading out, anglers should be aware of the following regulations:
✅ Atlantic Salmon catch and possession limit is 2 salmon.

✅ Anglers will be issued two Gros Morne National Park salmon tags, valid only on watercourses open to salmon angling:
• Deer Arm Brook
• Lomond River
• East Branch Lomond River

✅ Retained salmon must have both a valid national park salmon tag and a valid provincial salmon tag securely affixed.

✅ Trout may only be angled on watercourses open to salmon angling if the angler possesses a valid unused Gros Morne National Park salmon tag and a valid unused provincial salmon tag.

✅ Catch-and-release of salmon is prohibited, except when:
• The salmon is greater than 63 cm
• The salmon is less than 30 cm
• The salmon is caught in waters not open to salmon angling
In these cases, the salmon must be released immediately.

🚫 Angling is prohibited in Deer Arm Pond within 90 metres of the outflow of Ten Mile Feeder. (The feeder itself is closed to all fishing by regulation.)

Thank you for helping protect fish populations and ensuring sustainable angling opportunities in Gros Morne National Park. 🐟🌿

CORNER BROOK LIFTS FIRE BAN AS WILD COVE FIRE CONTINUES
(June 5th)

The fire ban for the City of Corner Brook has officially been lifted as firefighting efforts continue at the Wild Cove Waste Disposal Site on the North Shore Highway in western Newfoundland.

City officials announced the decision Friday evening, saying the ban was removed in accordance with guidance from provincial officials after the fire index moved to a moderate level earlier in the day. Officials noted they chose to take additional time before lifting the restrictions due to the ongoing wildfire response at Wild Cove.

“At this time we are fully confident things are under control, and it is safe to lift our ban,” officials said in a statement.

With the ban now lifted, backyard fire pits equipped with a proper spark arrestor are once again permitted, along with charcoal barbecues and fireworks.

Meanwhile, firefighters continue working to fully extinguish remaining fire and hotspots at the Wild Cove Waste Disposal Site. A water bomber from the Department of Forestry responded to the scene earlier today and assisted crews by wetting down the area to help prevent the fire from spreading further.

Officials say the fire is currently contained, and efforts are now focused on completely extinguishing the remaining hotspots.
