How often should you change your strings?
A debate as old as time - maybe even as old as that old set of flatwounds on your dad's dusty acoustic!
There are a few general guidelines to keep in mind when it comes to changing strings.
- once every three months or 100 hours of playing, whichever comes first
- if they have trouble holding pitch
- if they feel gross and sticky
- if they look worn and splotchy or 'flat' in spots
If it's been a while since you've changed strings, go ahead and throw a new set on - it's always such a joy to hear bright, fresh strings after a long stretch!
