So True!!

So True!!

In whatever part of your life you’re in, “fake it till you make it” is exhausting.

When people praise what we’ve built, we’re always grateful—but our response is often, “thank you… we still have a long way to go.” Because the reality is, running an artisan business—any small business—is hard. There are daily pressures, constant demands, and moments most people never see.

But what we’ve learned is this:
the majority of our customers are incredible. And we believe that’s because we choose to be transparent, honest, and authentic with you.

The truth is, “faking it” creates more pressure. It pulls you into comparison, into keeping up, into something that isn’t real—and that’s where the exhaustion lives.

So we’ll keep doing what we’ve always done—
inching forward, learning as we go, staying in our own lane, and building something real.

And that feels a whole lot better than pretending. 🤍

I wonder if there were any volunteer drivers who also helped out during 9/11, or other similar situations...

On the night of January 7, two commercial flights bound for St. John’s were forced to divert to Gander when icy runway conditions made landing impossible. For the more than 200 weary passengers onboard, it was an unexpected stop, one that brought frustration, uncertainty, and the familiar fatigue of air travel. What they did not expect to experience was kindness from total strangers. These weary travellers experienced not just courtesy, but the kind of quiet, no-questions-asked generosity that turns a long night into a lifelong memory.

Pam Pardy tells us about the evening when strangers came through, again.

In August 2009, a group of twenty-eight women came together to design and hook rugs under the guidance of organizer/initiator Laura Coultas and artist/rug hooking consultants Sheila Coultas, Frances Ennis and Maxine Ennis. Inspired by the strong Irish heritage on the Southern Shore, known as the Irish Loop, the women decided to create a body of work that would illustrate Newfoundland and Labrador’s strong connection with Ireland. Hooking Our Heritage uses text and pictures to trace the progress of the rugs and tell the story behind each one. Within these pages, you will find rugs displaying the words, traditions, landscapes, songs and history shared between the country of Ireland and the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The finished rugs show Irish blessings, a farrier and his horse, women picking herts, fairies playing in a garden, Celtic symbols and many other examples of the links between Ireland and Newfoundland and Labrador.
