Purple dead nettle salve, $10. Another “weed” promptly forgotten, and one in the mint family. Like the dandelion, this plant is completely edible and the benefits of these little bundles are many. Found to have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties and even mild pain relief. Centuries passed, this plant has been used for allergy relief, as cough syrup and in poultices for minor cuts and injuries.This salve is a staple in any herbal or non herbal first aid kit. It makes it a strong candidate for relief of body aches, pains, bumps, and bruises.

Dandelion salve $10! Hand cultivated with respect and lots left over for the bees. They’ve been used in folk medicine for thousands of years to cure fevers, boils, stomach problems, swelling, heartburn among many others including topical uses. Dandelions have high levels of vitamin A, C , K and trace amounts of vitamin D as well as minerals like zinc and iron. Dandelions when infused with oil help with dry skin, chapped skin, minor swelling and bruising, and minor aches and pains. Personally, I’ve been using this as a topical for my menstrual cramps for years.

The love stone! Ancient Grecians attributed this stone to the goddess Venus, and in ancient Egypt, rose quartz was placed in the tombs of royals and the wealthy so they may maintain beauty in the afterlife. What this stone represents to me is in fact, love but not just romantic. Rose quartz represents unconditional love an inner peace which makes it the perfect stone to have along with you on your journey to self healing. Sweet violet is a showy flora; social and flirtatious but it brings an emphasis to focusing on the little, quiet things that bring us joy. I’ve been using dandelions in spells since before I even understood what I was doing. They were always the first ingredient when I was a little girl, concocting potions in the back yard. It’s still one of my favourite ingredients for a multitude of reasons but, spring is when I respectfully harvest and make oil for salves and balms.

Dandelion oil can help with aches, pains and inflammations and it’s magical properties include; cleansing, divination, love and prosperity. Plus, how can you stay mad with a little sunshine yellow staring back?
