Well, we’ve decided it’s time for another sale!

Starting today, trees, shrubs and perennials are BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE.

There’s still lots of time to get something planted before the season is over, so if you’ve been thinking about adding another tree, filling in a spot in the yard, or adding a few more perennials to your flower beds, come out and have a look around.

All right, you guys, Round Two!

The “Show Us Your Garden” post was so much fun. We loved seeing what everyone has been growing, so now we want to see inside your greenhouses!

Big, small, homemade, fancy, overflowing, perfectly organized, or currently being taken over by tomato plants. We want to see them all.

In Memory of Linda Guilett

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our friend and former team member, Linda Guilett.

Last year, we shared a post recognizing Linda and everything she did behind the scenes at Walker Greenhouses. She was often one of the first to get her hands in the soil each season, helping with seeding, plug planting, early mornings, trays and trays of new growth, and so much of the work that helped bring the greenhouse to life.

Linda was hardworking, steady, thoughtful, and someone we were very fortunate to have as part of our team.

We are grateful for the time we had with her, for everything she contributed to Walker Greenhouses, and most importantly, for the person she was.

Our thoughts are with Linda’s family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved her during this difficult time.

Linda, you will be deeply missed. Thank you for being part of our greenhouse family.

Whether you're planting your very first fruit tree or adding to an established orchard, we're always happy to answer your questions and help you choose the right plants for our Peace Country climate.

Right now is still an excellent time to plant trees and shrubs. With all the rain we've had, new roots have a great opportunity to get established before winter.

A quick heads-up for the long weekend!

Walker Greenhouses will be CLOSED Monday, August 3 for B.C. Day.

Garden Tip Tuesday: Give Your Garden a Little Breathing Room

By this point in the summer, your garden might be looking a little full, wild, or tired in places. A quick tidy-up can make a big difference.

Start by deadheading spent flowers. Removing blooms that are finished can encourage many annuals and perennials to keep producing flowers instead of putting their energy into seed.

While you're out there, take a look at anything that's getting crowded.

• Remove dead or damaged growth
• Thin overcrowded plants where needed to improve airflow
• Pull weeds competing for space and nutrients
• Harvest vegetables regularly and remove anything that's gone past its prime
• Give sprawling plants a little support if they're taking over their neighbours

You don't need to overhaul the whole garden.

A little cleanup here and there can give everything more room to grow and keep your garden looking great through the rest of summer.
