Staff in tandem with the individuals we support along with donations and assistance from local community members - It is truly a collaborative affair. We could not operate without the support of our community and our amazing volunteers. Foundry Books plays a fundamental role in our community by providing a source of affordable and resourceful information for all, as well as promoting recycling. Re
gardless of your level of income, anyone can afford to buy a book here, with prices starting at $0.50 for children's books and most adult books priced at or under $4. Foundry Books has removed the pressure of choosing a book gift for someone with our 'Blind date With a Book' section. - Books we have carefully curated and wrapped to hide their identity, with clues to the genre of the book printed on the outside. Every Tuesday our fantastic staff Peterh chooses a book and creates a video for our page called 'Peterh's Picks'. If you are having trouble choosing your next book, why not allow Peterh to do that for you! With our goal of sourcing locally created and produced items, we are researching more Novelties for your shopping pleasure. Currently in the store, we have Wonky Willows handcrafted wire trees, scented candles, book accessory bundles for kids/teens and we will be selling baked good from 'Mum's Kitchen' in the very near future. Foundry Books and Novelties is much more than a second-hand bookstore. It offers immeasurable opportunity to the people in our community, to our volunteers and Co-op students as they pursue their career goals. Due to detailed on-the-job training Foundry Books offers, several individuals have been able to secure paid job opportunities within their community. This is very significant because our goal is to teach people to be independent, enabling them to be self-sufficient and contributing members of their community. Foundry Books collaborates well with other agencies. We are always interested in creating new networks with local businesses to add to our already established connections with The Carleton Place Town Council, Notre Dame High School, and big Brothers and Sisters, to mention a few.
