🇨🇦 Canada’s own Senate told the government in 1999 to phase herbicides and chemical pesticides out of the boreal forest ASAP. Quebec acted in 2001, and every province can modernize and move to non-chemical forest management now. We must keep pressuring provincial governments because they decide whether spraying is authorized.
So why sign this federal petition?
THE BLAME CIRCLE 👉🏻 Provinces defend Chemical Forestry by hiding behind Health Canada’s pesticide registrations. Health Canada points back to the provinces and says forestry is their decision.
But Health Canada’s record already demands serious scrutiny. Its 2017 glyphosate re-registration remains under legal challenge by Safe Food Matters, the 2000 Monsanto-ghostwritten glyphosate “safety” review was retracted in December 2025, and the 2026 Seattle Statement warned of harms extending far beyond cancer, including reproductive, endocrine, neurological, metabolic, liver, kidney and genetic effects. 😵🪦
Yet Canadians are still told glyphosate poses “no unacceptable risks,” and provinces continue spraying it over our public forests. 😱
And now Bill C-30 would give economic interests even more power in pesticide decisions? For God’s sake, this system already puts profit ahead of protection. Chemical Forestry has shown us exactly what that looks like. We do not need politicians weakening environmental safeguards even further. 🤡🎪
Meanwhile, provinces continue calling glyphosate, triclopyr and other forestry herbicides “cost-effective,” as though industry savings outweigh clean water, wildlife, pollinators, Indigenous rights, public health and the forest itself.
