WE HAVE AN OPENING!

Here is your opportunity to work for and learn from one of the best craft chocolate makers in North America.

We are growing and have one position open for a permanent full time team member.

Qualifications:
1. Your resume must demonstrate that you can hold a job for more than a year.
2. You must be able to repeatedly lift at least 50lbs.
3. Previous culinary experience helpful but not necessary.
4. You must be fluent in English.
5. You must be able to pass a background check.
6. You must be able to pay attention to detail.

Remuneration/Schedule:
1. $20 per hour to start
2. Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00am to 6:00pm with 1 hour lunch break
2. $50 in free chocolate product every month
3. $1,000 annual bonus pro-rated based on your start date.
4. 30 day probationary period.
5. Wage reviews every 12 months with meaningful increases for work well done.

Yesterday quietly marked the 18th anniversary of Choklat.
..and I wasn't there.

On the 8th day of the 8th month of the 8th year I opened the doors for the first time like 08/08/08 meant something. Back then I had no idea that my 'little business' would touch so many people in so many positive ways.

Instead of being present to greet customers and celebrate the milestone, yesterday I sat in a canoe on a remote mountain lake all by myself and spent the day in reflection.

My creations have brightened the days of over 2 million people. Wow. Just... Wow.

I have given close to 1,700 talks on craft chocolate to more than 25,000 people.

I have shared my knowledge and recipes in various online forums thousands of times. Today craft chocolate makers all over the world use small batch roasting techniques that I developed and shared publicly 20 years ago.

I have called people out with the unbridled voracity of a pitbull with a vocabulary when they publish bu****it online with the intent to entice the public to 'drink their Koolaid'.

Even after 18 years I am still paving the way for other craft chocolate makers - this time as the first chocolate maker in Canada to use Tagatose In the manufacture of a diabetic friendly chocolate.

My creations consistently win or place in the top 3 of any competition we enter.

Choklat has quietly donated over $250,000 worth of products and services to local grassroots organizations.

18 years ago I set out, whether good or bad, to right a wrong and bring clarity in the food industry to what chocolatiers call "making chocolate".
..and after 2 heart attacks, investing my life's savings, weathering Covid, surviving the cannabis meltdown, successfully defending the company from a predatory investor, and dealing with 100's of personal attacks on social media I can confidently say I have achieved what I set out to do: make a difference in forever changing an industry.

If I'd made one single different decision 20 years ago, today I'd probably be retired instead of tired.

Recently, Microsoft implemented significantly stricter email filtering policies. As a result, many legitimate businesses such as ours have reported delivery problems to Hotmail, Outlook and Live email addresses. The emails are no longer being sent to a junk folder. They are simply being refused and bounced back to the sender (us).

This is why many of our customers have reported not receiving copies of their receipts or order updates as it progresses through our system.

This is completely bu****it. Imagine if Canada Post started indescriminately discarding mail they thought wasn't important to you!

In order to continue providing exceptional service, this afternoon we sent a text message to all of our customers with Hotmail and Outlook addresses on file with us, asking to replace their existing email with one from a different provider (Google, GMail, Yahoo, Telus, Rogers, Shaw are all fine).

Calling Calgary's Best Dessert Artisans!

We're looking for three exceptional local dessert artisans to be part of our exclusive Choklat VIP Event on October 30th from 7pm to 11pm.

Every year we invite our most loyal customers—more than 200 Choklat VIPs and their guests—to spend an evening celebrating fine chocolate, great food, and the incredible local businesses that make Alberta special.

This year, we'd love to showcase three outstanding dessert creators whose passion for quality matches our own.

What we're looking for

Single-serve desserts with exceptional taste and beautiful presentation. Your proposal may feature:

A single signature dessert, or
A curated assortment of several bite-sized creations.

Approximately 200 portions will be required.

What we provide

✔️ We will purchase every dessert. We are not asking for donations or free product.

✔️ If your desserts include chocolate, they must be made with Choklat chocolate, which we will supply to you at no cost.

✔️ You'll receive your own 6-foot display table inside our factory where you can showcase your creations and interact directly with our VIP guests throughout the evening.

✔️ We'll provide the table, tablecloth, utensils, napkins, and take care of cleanup after the event.
