Clay is heavy and dense, wet and solid in form. The practice of working with clay is physical. Extremely grounding, calming and balancing. It acts as a bridge between head, heart and body. When these 3 parts of ourselves are connected, we experience peace and wholeness.
Anxiety and fear become present when there is no grounding. When we're experiencing too much lightness, when the connection between head and body are severed and we're residing in out head, our thoughts without regard for body and heart.
Are you aware of your movement, posture, muscular tension throughout the day? Ever notice what happens in your body while you're experiencing different thoughts or emotions? What happens when you have anxious thoughts? The body constricts. We get smaller. Tension builds up and we're blocked from free movement (or flow). What happens when you experience moments of joy, love or gratitude? The body relaxes, our breathing gets easier, we become more expansive and it's literally easier (it flows).
Sometimes all it takes is a bit of intentional awareness to start to shift our state of being to experience less fear and to invite more ease and abundance.
Start to notice your body when you feel anxiety. Intentionally soften the gripping, slow and extend the breath, shift your mental focus to a state of gratitude. Think about something that makes you smile. Puppies, sunshine, your loved ones, whatever it is for you in the moment. Just a small interruption to the fear train is often all it takes to derail it. And the more you practice derailing with gratitude and strengthening the bridge between head, heart and body, the easier it becomes and the longer it takes for the fear train to get chugging along again. Eventually it doesn't stop in your town any more, it moves on through 😉.
