Can you say “SALES”? Even Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster would give up his cookies for the sales at the Daisy this week. Our end-of-the-season savings are huge.

ALL women’s pants, jeans, capris, shorts and skirts are a dollar. So are sandals and flip flops. ONE DOLLAR.

All other women’s shoes are half price. Same with all women’s clothing - outerwear, sleepwear, scrubs, swimwear, lingerie and tops - ALL HALF PRICE.

The half price sale includes ALL children’s clothing and footwear. With plenty of warm weather ahead, our sales mean big savings on clothes you can wear now.

Besides the sales, there are lots of other reasons to come to the Daisy, like special finds in our jewelry case. A brand new Michael Kors wrist watch for $150. It has three small dials on the face for doing different tasks. There’s also a pretty one-of-a-kind necklace and earring set featuring flowers and insects - a couple of lady bugs and a dragon fly are tucked among the flowers. $10. And a big collection of clip-on earrings. Various prices.

You’ll love the colourful hooked rugs on the railing as you come in. The designs are traditional. The handwork is new. $5 per rug.

A deluxe bed set by the Italian manufacturer Milano includes a duvet cover, bed skirt and 2 shams. Fits a double/queen bed, in a dark red colour. $12. Displayed with the bed set but not part of it, 4 tailored cushions, $5 each.

Five super comfortable dining chairs with royal blue upholstery are $20 each. Four are on the floor. One is out back so ask one of our volunteers if you need help.

If you’re renovating a kitchen or dining room, check out a matching pair of brand new glass pendant lights from Wicker Emporium. Classy design. Originally priced at $99 each, ours are $25 each.

For military historians: “The Western Front” published in WW1.
Part 1 deals with December 1916. Part 3 covers March 1917. Each contains 20 reproductions of drawings by Muirhead Bone. Each is $18. Also “The D-Day Experience” by Richard Holmes. This large book commemorates the 60th anniversary of D-Day with 30 facsimile items of memorabilia integrated into the book, along with an Audio CD containing the first-hand accounts of veterans. $20. And of special significance here, a Bridgewater Legion DVD “Time to Remember”, with local veterans recalling WW2. In a sealed envelope $5.

If you’ve ever sat on the beach with sand blowing on your towel, a Quick Shelter is just what you need. Easy to set up and your sandwiches stay grit free. $15.

A delightful stuffed toy of a moose in pink is $8. She’s perched near the book section. In children’s, find a small selection of Barbies - fun to play with or to collect. $2 to $3.

If you were a student in the 1990’s, you might have played with Pogs. These small cardboard discs were all the craze then. We have several packs of these colourful discs in great designs. $8 per pack. Find them in the display case next to the cashier.

So plenty to see at the Daisy…and plenty of savings to make a visit fun and worth your time.

New artwork at the The Shore Line Gallery-South Shore Regional Hospital to browse as you walk the main hallway at the South Shore Regional Hospital.

In keeping with our hot weather and drought-like conditions, Charlene Morton's "Sun dried orchard" features fruit trees in a sun-baked landscape.

Clouds pepper the blue sky above. An art photograph which could double as a watercolour, the colours in this work have a similar transparency.

Eric Amoah has exhibited his photographs at the Shore Line Gallery before. His latest is "Golden Hour", a large work showing a wave rolling gently onto the beach.

The sun is setting over a calm sea. "Golden Hour" is a metal print, a process that fuses an image onto a specially treated metal plate. It gives a luminous, high definition effect which is well suited to this work.

High definition is a characteristic of Greg Van De Moortele's painting style, which also features intense colours. Both can be seen in his "St Martin's and Middle LaHave".

In this work, the sky is a florid pink which is reflected in the river below. St Martins in the centre of the painting is surrounded by this amazing colour.

Ivan Carey is another artist inspired by the landscape of the South Shore. He has several paintings in the show, including one called "Stonehurst, Comforts of Home".

It shows a fish shack on an inlet with lobster traps and a blue dory on the ground in front of the building. The details appear precisely rendered but you see them because of the clear, pellucid light that Carey has captured in this painting.

A solitary figure wandering on a misty coastline is the subject of Lezlie Morgan's "Beachcomber". Morgan is a skillful watercolourist able to suggest a quiet ocean with white space and a few hints of waves.

Her beachcomber leaves a trail of reflections on the wet sand. The muted colours and fine brushwork give a sense of peace and coolness.

These artworks are on display now at the Shore Line Gallery. Next week, more artists worth a visit to the Shore Line Gallery.

In jewelry, a couple of watches worth your time. One is a Kenneth Cole in black with a see-through dial. $60. The second is by Bosch. It's a promotional copy. $30. Both watches are in excellent condition.

In children's, a dress from the movie "Frozen", size 5-6. $4. A young artist's dream - a big box of crayons, markers and coloured pencils. $2.

And from Mumbai, India, a jacket for a little boy made of pure silk with beautiful embroidery down the front and on the sleeves. It comes with its own knitted silk scarf. This jacket is in pristine condition with the maker's tags still attached. By Mikir Fashion, this ethnic jacket would be worn at a special occasion like a wedding. $10.

A jacket of a completely different sort - a men's wool felt jacket with mustard coloured leather sleeves and trim. It has "Bridgewater Rifle Club" on the front. Size 18. $15.

And remember, all clothing is half price.

That's this week at the Daisy where you can save BIGtime. See you there.

In pristine condition and very affordable, $2 to $10, you can indulge in a bit of nostalgia without feeling guilty.

If you collect anything to do with British royalty, you'll love the Queen Elizabeth II Coronation plate, complete with the date, June 2, 1953. This special piece is $10. If you crave more Brit bric-a-brac, there's a ring with the Union Jack on it. $6 in the jewelry case.

Start your own art gallery with work on display at the Daisy. Three works by James Lumbers, including one of Gordie Howe "Mr Hockey" himself, are $25 each. On the wall above the sandals, a natural assemblage of giant puffballs captured inside an old window frame. $15. Next to it, a dory full of fishermen float above an ocean of sea creatures and, if you dream of a romantic holiday, there's "Night Out", a painting of a couple in a misty city somewhere wonderful.

For a luxurious bedroom, a king size duvet, bed skirt, cushion and 2 shams in cream and pale beige sateen. This beautiful set is $30. For more elegance, a nearby cream coloured lamp is $10. Also two Victorian-style porcelain table lamps with hand-painted scenes and fancy fringed shades. $15 each.

Two brand new kitchen gadgets to help you chill out in the warm weather - a Breville Wine Chiller, $10, and a frozen yoghurt and ice cream maker by Cuisinart, $30 - both in housewares.

In the men's section, cameras. A vintage 8mm analog Camcorder by Sony. In the children's section some very pricey sun hats for kids, Daisy priced at $4, plus a crib which we are giving away for free. You will find it near the back of the store.

🎉 Big milestone for the South Shore! 🎉

The South Shore Regional Hospital has officially cut the ribbon on our brand-new, community-funded MRI machine! 🏥

This incredible achievement was powered by the South Shore Health Foundation, with vital support from the Queens General Hospital Foundation and an overwhelming wave of generosity from local donors and volunteers, including our very own The South Shore Regional Hospital Auxiliary !

Your time, donations, and advocacy made this dream a reality.

As one of the few regions in Nova Scotia to secure this advanced technology, this means:
• ⏱️ Faster scans: Rapid access to critical diagnostics close to home.
• 🚗 Less travel: No more long highway trips for patients in Lunenburg and Queens counties.
• 🩺 Better care: Quicker diagnoses lead to faster, more effective treatments.
• 👩‍⚕️ Top talent: A powerful tool to help recruit doctors to the South Shore.

The MRI team anticipates delivering roughly 3,000 scans in their first year, expanding to 5,000 in year two.

A massive thank you and congratulations to Ben Carver and the South Shore Health Foundation team, Dr. Sangeeta Kalyan, Michael and the MRI staff, Steven Rombeek, and every single community member who contributed.

This is your victory, and it will safeguard local health for generations. ❤️

Every time you shop or donate at The Daisy, you help our hospital thrive.
