What an amazing workshop on Saturday with ! 🐝 To everyone who came out to the beeswax wrap workshop, THANK YOU so much. I had the BEST time and I hope you did too.

I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous. It’s been a while since I’ve hosted one of these and I wasn’t sure if I’d just… forget everything? 🥲 But the second I got started it felt like I never stopped. I dove right in and remembered exactly why I LOVE sharing about sustainable swaps and making these wraps so much.

The conversations were SO good, the energy in the room was super vibrant, and watching everyone make their own wraps from scratch was just really really cool to be a part of.

And huge thank you to Colleen from for being such an incredible partner in making this happen. 🫶

It’s been a while since I’ve said these words but… we’re hosting a beeswax wrap workshop! 🐝🤩

I’m so excited to bring this back. We’ve teamed up with in Flamborough for a really fun afternoon and I would love to see you there!

April 18th, 1:00 to 2:30 PM, $30/person. You’ll make your own wraps, take two home, and we’ll chat sustainable living along the way. All materials included.

8 years. 💚 I honestly can’t believe I’m writing this but Sustainable Swaps is turning 8 this month!! 🧁

I just need a moment to sit with that. 🤯 This has been a long commitment and it has also been one of my greatest sources of hope.

I started with my step-mom Shelley in 2018. I wanted to host an earth day clean up and she wanted to make everyone a reusable produce bag for those that attend. It took off and we ended up making everyone a zero waste kit. My grandma made reusable paper towels, and we got organic cotton tote bags donated, it was a whole thing. I didn’t realize that was the beginning of something so special. I was in university at the time and we started the business under KarsNaturalKreations because I needed a place to just be me. To show up, have an outlet, and find my voice and run the social media while Shelley created behind the scenes. We showed up silly. We showed up serious.

In fact we’ve shown up just on Instagram with 1,258 posts over 8 years. That works out to about 3 times a week, consistently on and off because I genuinely love being here. 🥺💗

We’ve ebbed and flowed…I’ve had years where I was at markets every weekend. And years, like last year, where I didn’t do a single one. I’ve had seasons where I’ve had some of the best days of my life and over the last 8 years I’ve had moments where this community literally carried me through some of my darkest days and I’ll always be grateful for that.

Building this community has changed the way I show up in my everyday life. It’s helped me land one of the best jobs I’ve ever had and has rooted me in my love for political action. It really has been a dream!

In March 2021, my stepmom Shelley suddenly passed away and that truly changed our lives & as a whole family. With KarsNaturalKreations I changed the name as a fresh start to Sustainable Swaps. When I think of this business I think of her for helping me find a little bit of myself when at that time it was a bit of a struggle.

I started it to make an impact so whether you’ve been here since the KarsNaturalKreations days, or you just found us a few months ago, thank you. Really. For being part of the 8 years! 💗

Some of my absolute fav zero waste swaps, all in one place 💚

🧺 laundry detergent sheets - No plastic bottles, no measuring, just toss one in and you’re done. Summer Rain scent is chef’s kiss

🌿 .motherearth Coconut fiber scrub brush - This thing is a BEAST. Biodegradable, works on everything from veggies to pots, and when it’s done? Compost it.

💅 .products base coat - Canadian-made, vegan, non-toxic nail polish. Comes in this beautiful glass bottle that I’ll refill or reuse forever. Montreal brand doing it RIGHT.

I find these products genuinely better than the plastic alternative & it just happens to be sustainable. 💚

Who wants to start 2026 with a waste audit? 🔍

The new year is coming up fast, and I’m thinking about doing something a little different this January. The last 2 years we started off with a reusable cup challenge now I think we are ready for a waste audit - no need for this to fit in a mason jar and it will be low stress 😊

A waste audit is basically just tracking what you throw away for a week (or even just a few days). You don’t have to dig through your trash or fit anything in a mason jar - just pay attention to what’s ending up in your garbage and recycling bins.

You can’t change what you don’t measure, ya know?

A waste audit helps you:
• See exactly where most of your waste is coming from
• Identify the easiest swaps to make first
• Set realistic goals based on YOUR actual habits
• Celebrate how far you’ve already come!

When I did my first waste audit years ago, I was shocked by how much of my trash was food packaging. That one realization led me to start shopping at bulk stores, which literally changed my entire zero waste journey. Let me know if this interests you too!

I’ll admit 🌚 I’ve been in my quiet reminiscing era over here. This was a busy year and I am so grateful for this life! I can say I had some of the best once in a life time experiences!

On the Sustainable Swaps side, I’ll say I have been quiet over here with the shop but I am learning that that’s okay. This is just a season that I needed before new goals.

I didn’t dive into any pop-up events this year & I didn’t dive into any flash sales as well. I spent a lot of time refreshing the website, auditing all of our items & also creating a Pinterest for Sustainable Swaps. I also spent lots of time travelling, in elections & simply just enjoying every second soaking up the memories made. I cannot believe it’s the end of the year so here’s the classic - where did this year go? lol! 🩷

I’m so grateful and I’m slowly coming back here and looking forward to 2026!🐦‍🔥

How cute are these plantable cards from .products ?! 🌱💚 We have added them to our shop!

They’re made in Montreal and the perfect little sustainable gift for the holidays. You write your message, give the card, and then they can plant it to grow beautiful local wildflowers.

The paper is 100% recycled post-consumer materials and completely compostable. Plus they come with an envelope made from sugarcane residues! 💌

I love this swap because it turns something that usually gets tossed (greeting cards) into something that grows and gives back to the earth. It’s every single small swaps that really add up! 🪴
