Update!!! New Hours!!! Vegetable Upick Patch - Open Weekends Only from 10am - 5pm at the farm field address 23414 Twp Rd 564, Sturgeon County. Prairie Gardens is open 7 days a week as usual at 56311 Lily Lake Road for agritourism family fun and fall fruit tree sales.

Our gardens are impacted heavily by the extreme wet weather. There are upick cucumbers, dill, onions.

Everything else is so late there is little else ready.

Its the year of the water. Sturgeon County has declared a state of Agricultural Disaster. Its the wettest summer in 200 years, since 1880.

It is Open Farm Days this weekend. Free Tickets to Prairie Gardens are SOLD OUT, and can not be provided at the gate.

Due to the extremly wet conditions (it is the wettest summer in 200 years) there is a limit to how many cars we can accomodate on site.

Please visit other local Open Farm Day Sites: Prairie Gardens Market Garden 23414 Twp Rd 564, Reveresque Winery, (1 km south of Prairie Gardens) or Pottery by Heather (in Bon Accord - just 1 block in from the Husky), Lakeside Farmstead (Saturday only) Sturgeon County - 13 min from PrairieGardens, Aurora Alpacas (Sturgeon County), Rosy Farms Haskaps (Alcomdale), Triple Lyoness Farm (Westlock), Toews & Bale (Waskateanu), or check out the Rooted in Barrhead Circle Drive.

Another epic thunderstorm rumbling and bumbling across our Prairie Gardens sky. At least there wasn't any hail as it chased us out of the 🍓 Strawberry patch today.

This is now wettest summer EVER on record and the year is far from finished. We are now at the 3rd wettest year on record, at 655 mm - outranked only by 1901 (699 mm) and 1900 (745 mm).

The soil is too wet to rototill, so farmer Tam has been mowing to chop the weeds down.

Did you know that Prairie Gardens is located at the head of the Athabasca Landing Trail - historic trail to the Klondike? It actually went right through our yard.
