Did you know that almost everything in the shop is available for rent for half the retail cost?

A few weeks ago Lynn Jollymore popped into the shop to rent a vintage look for the Western Ontario Drama League 2026 Festival in Hanover that had a Fabulous Fifties theme.

I showed her a couple of outfits and she chose this fantastic retro dress by Stop Staring. Although the circle skirt is considered iconic 50s wear, Lynn looked so fantastic in this red polka dot dress that she decided to go for the alternative silhouette so popular in the early 1950s: the wiggle dress. This tailored, figure hugging dress was given the name because the skirt was often narrower at the hem than the hips forcing the wearer to take little steps and “wiggle”.

The process for renting an item at PIck a Posie Vintage is easy - you pay full price for whatever you are renting and when you return it a week later, you receive 50% of the cost of the item back. No need to clean the item, we like to do our own laundry!

Now often when someone rents something from the store, they receive so many compliments on the outfit that they decide to keep It. They just let me know that they have fallen in love with the item and will not be returning it
So for those that were hoping that this dress made it back to the store, sorry to disappoint - Lynn kept the dress and the little black button earrings - but don’t worry, we have lots of other beauties available.

Laura Peach came to me with a quest! To find the perfect dress to go with her red and green (yes Christmas colours) graduation gown.
This simple gold dress, inspired by the 1960s, came to mind. Laura loved it. When she tried it on, it looked fantastic. It only needed a minor alteration along with a pair of pockets added to the side seams. (Handbags are not easy to deal with at graduation ceremonies.)
I have helped Laura expand her wardrobe ever since we opened the shop 8 years ago. She is a regular client, so it was a pleasure and a honour to dress her for this important day.
I would like to introduce Dr. Laura Peach - who now holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Public Health Sciences from the University of Waterloo. She was also a University Finalist for the Governor General’s Gold Medal.
Congrats Laura on this huge achievement!

Lindsay Spindler and her Mom popped into the shop on Saturday and discovered a beautiful pink linen dress and a striped linen blend skirt with pockets.
They decided to wear their new finds out to dinner at Part II Bistro Goderich that evening (if you haven’t been you should go!)

I can never say no to a good piece of linen or linen/cotton/rayon blend clothing when I am out picking things for the shop. They may not be vintage, but they are timeless and oh so comfortable to wear in hot, humid weather.

Dressed up last night for the world premier of Sisters of ‘78 at opening of the Blyth Festival
I wore a long silk devoré dressing gown from the 1990s over a simple black halter necked top and wide leg jeans with brown wedge sandals.
My purse was from the 1970s (it has a great acrylic handle that you can’t see in the photo) and I finished the look off with silver hoops and rings.
If you can make it out to Blyth this summer, be sure to catch this show. It is now one of my Blyth favourites. The play captures an incredible historical moment where the fight for workers rights by a group of courageous women in Huron Park Ontario changed labor laws for future generations.

Happy Huron County Pride!
Head to Goderich for events happening at Lion’s Harbour Park today and check out Huron County Pride for other happenings around the county this month.
Sadly we didn’t have the capacity to attend this year’s market but know that Pick a Posie Vintage is a safe space to be who you want and wear what you want.
The shop is open until 5pm today.

It is going to be a glorious day!
A perfect day to drop by our tent at the Stratford Vintage Market at 163 King Street. (Destination Stratford) There from 10 to 4.
A lovely day to drive to Blyth to check out our bricks and mortar store. Open 11 to 5.
And then head to the beach, the boat, the cottage or a trail to enjoy the sun.
(We have a huge display of nautical inspired jewllery at the shop!)

Story of a dress and some sparkly things.
Liz McEachern was on a mission - she needed a necklace to go with a dramatic red dress she was planning on wearing to the ACTRA awards in Toronto. We didn’t have anything suitable in the shop, so I searched my bins of shiny things.
Success - I found a custom made necklace that was created from brooches soldered onto drapes of chain. It was perfect. Liz completed the look with a rhinestone encrusted purse that had just come into the shop days before. The silvery, sparkly rhinestone necklace and purse complimented her deep red dress beautifully.
Now as it happens, Liz got a little sidetracked while in the shop and also found this soft pink dress that has the biggest bugle beads on it that I have ever seen. They create dramatic lines that define the design of the dress.
Thanks to Liz for sending in photos of herself in her PIck a Posie Vintage finds. Liz definetly knows how to change up her style and look utterly fantastic in different looks.
