πŸ’Ž I love bringing in my favourite books to recommend to folks, but there's actually a handful that haven't sold a single copy in the nine months since I joined Books on Main! I'm hoping this post can help change that.

These are all books I've read and adored, and they deserve so much love! There's even some for young readers.

🏞️ Lake of Souls by Ann Leckie
⏻ Feed by M.T. Anderson
🐸 Cannibalism by Bill Schutt
πŸ’» Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
πŸ¦‡ Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice
🌳 The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks Dalton
πŸͺ„ Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor
πŸ’« Atana and the Firebird (series) by Vivian Zhou
🧢 Cat's Cradle (series) by Jo Rioux

Read about them out on our website -- booksonmain.ca -- or ask me about them next time you're in for a visit!

Come see Yann Martel in conversation with Iain Reid next week!

On Wednesday evening, Kingston WritersFest presents "Ancient Myths, Modern Nightmares" at The Spire in Kingston. These two renowned Canadian authors will be speaking on how their latest novels bend reality, memory, and history.

Yann Martel is the author of Life of Pi, which won the Man Booker Prize in 2002, and was adapted into the Oscar-winning film by Ang Lee. His latest novel, Son of Nobody, follows a common soldier through a reimagined Trojan war, translated through a struggling academic and father.

Iain Reid is the author of the New York Times bestselling novel I'm Thinking of Ending Things. His upcoming novel, A New Kind of Clean (co-authored with Ellie Foumbi) is a surrealist take on envy and ambition. It follows aspiring actress Missy Djalo whose big break turns out to be anything but lucky.

For the little collector in your life!

Searching for Wocks follows a child on their walk to the park, carefully inspecting the rocks and other unique objects they find along the way and filling their pockets for their special collection.

Lucy Knisley is one of my favourite authors. Whether enjoying her picture books, juvenile or adult graphic novels, I am sure to find a heartwarming, original story along with beautiful illustrations. This book release was extra special for me, as the author painted one of my own favourite β€œwocks” which appears in the end papers of this book!

The picture book is recommended for readers 3-5 years old.
