Join this meeting, get involved in your community. Millions of Canadians are a few hundred dollars from missing bill payments, or one incident away from a mental health crisis.

It's a cultural lie that silence equals strength.
In trauma‑exposed professions people don’t break because they’re weak. They break because they’ve been carrying too much, for too long, with too little support.

"It makes you next" isn't a punchline. It's the warning. A warning that heralds: the next person to burn out, the next person to hit a wall, the next person to spiral, the next person to break in private, the next person the community loses. And not because we're weak, but because we're silent.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Do yourself a service and talk it out.

Congratulations on yet another amazing victory. The fight didn't end in Afghanistan. We still lose veterans every week. They still fight for recognition, health care, and secure finances. This is a huge victory and a step forward in gaining some respect and recognition for the men and women who have served our nation. Thank you Valour in the Presence of the Enemy, and especially you Bruce.

Please BUDDY CHECK. It can be a conversation, a text, a hug, or sharing a cup of coffee together...but whether you can help or need help please reach out. We need you to stay.

14 Oct, 2006. This was the OP Cpl Jess Larochelle of C Coy 1RCR volunteered to man singlehandedly, covering stricken LAV's during a Taliban ambush that had already killed two of his friends. The direct hit from an RPG blew Jess back from his machine gun position and knocked him unconscious. When he awoke he was suffering from broken vertebrae in his neck and back, a detached retina, broken eardrum, concussion, and countless shrapnel wounds.

Partially deaf and blind Jess got back on the gun and re-engaged the enemy. Saving his final 100 rounds for a last stand as over 50 Taliban fighters were converging to finish off the Canadians Jess took to the M72's that lay beside him. His fire was so accurate he was hitting the enemy directly with 66mm rockets, he covered an entire flank and thwarted the Taliban surge. For this he was awarded the Star of Military Valour, the Commonwealth's second highest award for gallantry. He deserved the Victoria Cross.

After six years of advocacy today it was announced that the Canadian Government WILL SUPPORT an independent military honours review board. This board will review all the evidence from citations during Canada's mission in Afghanistan and, we hope, upgrade a number of deserving soldiers from the SMV to the VC. This begins with Jess Larochelle. The fight to have these heroes recognized is not over but this is a major step in it finally happening. A HUGE congratulations on this news goes out to Cpl. Bruce Moncur, Gen. Rick Hillier, and the entire Valour in the Presence of the Enemy team for their efforts 🎗️
