Today I am sharing a personal memory - an amazing memory that has stuck with me for over 30 years now. As you may know, we collect items for two local women's shelters and their Arnprior Outreach Program. The Outreach Program helps women who are starting over right here in town after leaving the safety of the shelter.
My story is about MY experience starting over in my late 20's with 2 small children and no child support. I had a decent job but after rent, a car payment, daycare and groceries, there was no money left. I mean, zero dollars. I had to watch EVERY penny!
Well, one Friday night, late summer I had a vist from a friend from work. She gifted me a whole box of vegetables out of her garden. I was blown away. I remember thinking, "OH MY GOSH! A whole box of vegetables!!" It was maybe 14" x 16", full of assorted veggies. There was no way I could have squeezed enough money out of my budget for those fresh vegetables. I will never forget that, Janet. 🥹
So... I am here to tell you - if you have ever dropped off items to our Arnprior Angel Project here at Antiques, Treasures & Treats - those items mean the world to the people they go to. They are a serious gift when times are incredibly tight! An amazing gift. 💖
By the way, we are sending some items on Tuesday, July 14th. I hear they are short on body wash, shampoo and conditioner. If you would like to drop off a little something, you can bring it inside here at Antiques, Treasures & Treats, 260 Elgin St West, or you can leave it in the Angel Project Donations cradle, on the porch. Every donation means the world.
Thanks for reading.
