A photograph cannot tell you what happens inside someone else’s relationship. 💜
You saw the picture.
Your toxic ex smiling beside someone new. Looking happy. Looking in love.
And suddenly, all those feelings you thought you’d worked through come rushing back.
Why does she get the version of him I begged for?
Why couldn’t he be that happy with me?
Was I the problem all along?
After a toxic or narcissistic relationship, seeing your ex move on with someone new can trigger feelings of rejection, jealousy, heartbreak, and self-doubt.
Especially when you’re still healing from emotional abuse, gaslighting, or a trauma bond.
But here’s something I want you to remember.
You have happy pictures with him, too.
Pictures where you were smiling.
Pictures where everyone thought you were the perfect couple.
Pictures that didn’t show the tears, the manipulation, the broken promises, or the nights you lay awake questioning your own worth.
You know better than anyone that a happy photograph doesn’t always mean a happy relationship.
Maybe he’s changed. Maybe he hasn’t.
But you can’t know that from a picture.
And you don’t need to know.
Because his new relationship isn’t proof that you weren’t enough.
Her happiness doesn’t mean she’s better than you.
And how he treats someone else doesn’t change what you experienced with him.
Healing after narcissistic abuse isn’t about waiting to see whether his next relationship works out.
It’s about rebuilding your confidence, trusting yourself again, and remembering that you deserved love, kindness, and respect all along.
And I know that sometimes, seeing those pictures makes you want to reach out to him.
To ask why he couldn’t love you that way.
To find out if he ever really cared.
Or maybe just to hear his voice and feel like you still matter.
But you don’t need to reopen that conversation to prove you were worthy of love.
💜 That’s why I created my FREE Don’t Text Him Survival Kit.
