Walking into my first pipe show felt like stepping into a room full of names I’d only ever seen on tins, forums, and interviews—except in person they weren’t “industry figures,” they were just real, warm, grounded people. Meeting the people I’ve admired and respected for years was eye-opening. , , and actually talking through blends—made the craft feel real instead of mythologized. These are the hands and minds that shaped the blends I cellar, and they spoke with zero ego. Just passion and the patience to take the time to answer all the inquires.
Spending time with the team, getting a true masterclass from and on how to evaluate a pipe—grain, shaping decisions, airflow, engineering—was worth the entire trip on its own. Not a lecture, not a performance, just a real transfer of knowledge from people who care deeply about the craft. The kind of conversation that shifts how you see your own collection. Can’t forget how went 2 for 2 on a blind guess of what’s in the pocket jar. Unreal.
p.mawby these 3 boys I’d take those three any day to grab a drink with and just have a genuinely great time—no pretense, just good people you actually want to be around. Can’t forget my guy who remembered telling me he had something for me and giving it to me the next morning at Starbucks. You can always find people that say nice things but life doesn’t often give you people that mean what they say.
I left with pipes, yes. But more importantly, I left with moments I won’t forget. The show didn’t make the hobby feel smaller; it made it feel warmer. Also like to thank the super kind folks behind . I was so happy to pick up the kaywoodie and Tinbids collaboration piece! Finally to thanks to the boys from . You boys made the trip even better because we got to have the same experiences at the same time. Hope you guys continue to hit home runs ❤️
