Hello! My name is Janelle and I am the face behind Sumas Laser Engraving & Design.

Thank you for taking the time to follow me on this wild journey. 😊

A little bit about myself. I am a firstly a mother and wife. I’ve been married to my husband for 15 years and we have 4 amazing children 👧👧👧👦. All our kids are heavily involved in lacrosse 🥍 so every weekend you will find us at the lacrosse field (or box during the spring) cheering them on. If I am not there then I am meeting all you in person at local markets.

I started laser engraving in 2020. My husband and I had been talking for awhile about what I can do once our twins (now 7.5 years old) started kindergarten. And while it was still a year away at that point the timing still seemed right to give laser engraving a try.

So I purchased my first machine. A Glowforge Pro. And I immediately loved it! Believe it or not I do not consider myself an artistic person. And those of you who have known me for years absolutely know this to be true 😆.

Those first 3 months of my little business was BUSY! I was staying up til midnight 🕛 many nights hustling to get orders out. It was an incredible feeling to not only realize how much I truly enjoyed this but to witness first hand the potential growth not only for the business but myself also. 😊

My Glowforge was the machine that started it all! I am still to this day am so happy with the decision to take that risk and jump in. I have zero design knowledge, no schooling, I’m completely self taught in this business.

So fast forward 3 years and I have been running a Trotec 360 for almost 3 years now (I ended up upgrading quickly after Christmas 2020) which has opened even more doors for me now.

I’ve created signs taller than me (yes I’m short but still 🤪) shipped well over 2500 Christmas tags (year after year our best selling item) and turned my love for cribbage into something I can share with everyone.

So thank you for joining me in my little corner of the small business world. It means the world to me that each and every one of you have chosen to follow me. 🥰

Now it’s time to buckle up and get ready for the busiest time of the year - Christmas! 🎄
