Craft bars and truffles, drinks, treats and chocolate classes. Chocolate boutique on Ambergris Caye and now Caye Caulker Belize Chocolate Company is the original craft bean to bar chocolate making company based in Belize. We think we may be one of a kind in the world, as our 'factory' is directly on the beach on an island in Belize, where the Maya arguably created 'chocolate'. Another unique quali

ty is that we make our chocolate in the country where the beans come from. Many of the other microbatch companies in the US and UK import their beans from abroad. We use 100% Belizean ingredients: cocoa beans from the Toledo District, sugar from Orange Walk, and MOST IMPORTANTLY we don't add lecithin or vanilla, unlike most other chocolate makers, which makes for a much purer, finer chocolate and our chocolate is 100% Belizean. We make a signature 70% dark chocolate, and add other Belizean ingredients to make different bars - including orange, cacao nibs, chili, and shapes with pineapple, coconut, ginger, and mango(when in season)

Our product is called "kakaw", pronounced Ka ka wa, which is the Maya word for cacao, and you can find it in all fine food and wine stores, and top hotels in Ambergris Caye and throughout mainland Belize. We hope to export to US and Uk by 2012.

This is where it all began… back in 1998 at . Chris was doing his Yachtmasters, and I was on the Jumpstart Watersports course. He says he clocked me right away (aww!), but we didn’t actually meet until weeks later in Barbados during our windsurfing instructor training. Eight unforgettable weeks of sun, fun, and nonstop physical exercise, later, we traveled to Belize and fell in love with the country and each other. Our first business was Sailsports Belize, teaching windsurfing, sailing, and kitesurfing under the palapa at Holiday Hotel. Since then, we’ve managed a hotel ( ), opened a surf/yoga clothing store (Surf Guru, great idea, wrong timing), and in 2007, took a chance on something totally new, making bean-to-bar chocolate. Our chocolate shop opened in 2012, and we haven’t looked back until now! Full circle moment with this photo taken at ’s Isle of Wight base, featuring one of our cups. Thanks (Chris’s brother!) for snapping the pic while instructing there for a few weeks. From to Belize. It’s been one hell of a ride!

Yesterday was a special day for us at Belize Chocolate Company! As many of you know, last year we launched our Art bar showcasing local artists. For every bar sold, we pledged a percentage towards art and craft materials for our local primary schools. After a lot of fun choosing and packing everything up, Dylan and Abrianna visited the RC Primary School, Holy Cross School, and New Horizons School where they distributed a variety of art supplies. We would like to say a big thank you to all our customers for being part of this journey. Every purchase you make helps us support our community and inspire the next generation of young Belizean artists.

Today is this one’s 20th birthday. He was just two, when, transported on Chris’s shoulders, he got his first glimpse of a cacao farm. From that moment he has been an integral part of our chocolate story. He was our first “packer”and chocolate helper, the inspiration for Noah Boah’s Chocolate syrup, our chief chocolate taster, our gift deliverer, our step-in shop assistant, and recently our main delivery, social media and caramel making person. He has some mean dance moves and an extremely developed palate. Keep being kind Noah Boah.Happy birthday. We love you. The world is your cocoa pod.
