Slender Weaver’s Bamboo can function as a decorative ornament or be USED as a SCREEN. Slender Weaver’s Bamboo is IDEAL ALONG BOUNDARIES, NARROW LANES, and SWIMMING POOLS. It doesn’t spread as much as running bamboos and it grows very densely. In addition, it works well as a windbreaker and can be cut to any height to screen out undesirable views. Slender Weaver’s Bamboo is an EXCELLENT plant FOR the DRIVEWAY, a PROTECTIVE FENCE, or a FREE-STANDING ornamental. It can also be CONTAINER GROWN. Also, because of its durable and long pliable fibers, it is used for weaving.
Slender Weaver’s Bamboo is a tall, stately bamboo that reaches heights of 15 to 20 feet. In its natural habitat, the bamboo grows to 50 feet. Slender Weaver’s Bamboo is recognized not only for its height, but for its bluish tint and arching tops. Will grow up to twice its height every year for the first 3 years and reach full maturity within 3-5 years depending on conditions like soil and weather.
Slender Weaver’s Bamboo will grow well in full sun but will also do well with at least half a day of sun. It does not thrive in complete shade. Like most bamboo plants, Slender Weaver’s Bamboo grows well in rich well-drained, sandy or loamy soil. It is important to check the soil features before planting to ensure that it is rich in nutrients. If not, one may have to add a layer of organic soil mix.
Although established plants are relatively drought tolerant after the first three to six months, the plant looks best with ample water. This hardy clumping bamboo is also SALT TOLERANT.
A slow release fertilizer or organic fertilizer can be applied every 3 months to keep foliage green and promote new growth. Responds well to trimming, to keep at a certain height, prune once a year similar to any other hedge.
