Brand: Weltmeister

Model: Basset

Year : 1963

Info : he Weltmeister® Basset 1, sometimes referred to as the Weltmeister® Combo Bass, was the first keytar! This rare "Cold War" electro-mechanical keyboard instrument was made from 1963 to 1969 by accordion manufacturer, Weltmeister, in East Germany. It was practically impossible to get one in the US. The battery-powered Basset 1 was popular in the 1960s and early 1970s with East German dance bands. Its mechanical piano action was derived from its big brother, the Weltmeister® Claviset. Pressing a key causes the lip of a rubber disc to pluck the tine. When the key is released, the sound is stopped by a foam damper. A warning label in German, Cyrillic Russian, and English warns of "danger of life" if you connect it to a radio or an amplifier with AC-DC!

Brand: Hammond

Model: Xk-5

Year : 2016

Info : HAMMOND-EXCLUSIVE PATENTED TECHNOLOGIES
Hybrid Multiple Key-Contact System: On classic Hammonds, pressing a key sequentially closes nine mechanical contacts: one for each drawbar. In normal play, your ears hear these multiple harmonics as one note. Depress a key slowly, however, and you hear the harmonics come in at slightly different times. The more drawbars pulled, the more “chewy” and soulful character is imparted to the sound. Some called it “bounce”, it was also indelicately referred to as “spit”. Many beloved Hammond keyboard “tricks” were born of this unintended imperfection.

These unique responses can’t be accomplished with MIDI single note-on keying, the system used in the majority of today’s keyboards. The XK-5 uses three mechanical contacts at different points in the keys’ travel. Each of these, in turn, triggers three virtual contacts, providing a discrete “note on” connection for every drawbar pitch in the same manner as the original nine-contact electro-mechanical Hammond organ. The result is a fingers-to-music connection perfectly duplicating the response of a Vintage “B” while saving on weight and cost. Plus, the time-spread between these “note-ons” is programmable, as is the order in which the harmonics speak, allowing for totally unique variations in touch and response. As all the contacts receive and transmit MIDI data, every nuance of your performance can be captured into a DAW.

Completely Redesigned Key-Bed: The XK-5’s keyboard action is built in-house, not sourced from a third-party
manufacturer. It was designed to duplicate the heft, bounce, and key dip of a “new old stock” and well-maintained B-3™: No springy synth keys allowed! Master Hammond players who tested early prototypes confirmed nothing comes closer to the feel and response they expect from a Vintage Hammond. Of course it has the “waterfall” key fronts critical to Hammond playing techniques such as palm slides and glissandos. Play the XK-5 alongside any other modern organ and we’re convinced you’ll find the difference stunning. Play the Xk-5 alongside a vintage Hammond and we’re convinced you’ll find the similarity stunning.

All-New Sound Engine: The XK-5 employs proprietary technology digitally recreating Hammond’s storied tone wheel generator with unprecedented accuracy and flexibility. Tone wheels were spinning discs on shafts, each with its own pickup pointing at the edge. The pattern of “teeth” cut into the edge of the wheel determined the pitch. In the XK-5, Physical Modeling and Sampling are combined in an exclusive process capturing the frequencies and properties of all 103 tone wheels found in the original organs, along with other important sonic details such as key click, Touch-Response Percussion™, vibrato-chorus, and more.

Tone wheel generators have become like rare violins or classic cars: Even though Hammond calibrated all instruments leaving the factory to sound identical, after decades of use, no two are exactly alike. To cover the extremes found in Classic Hammonds we’ve extended the range and programmability of both the overall generator characteristics (such as leakage and motor noise) and individual tone wheel behavior (such as the purity of the sine wave) to wide degrees. You are able to perfectly duplicate different conditions of Hammonds—from showroom-new to road-abused (if that’s what you’re going for) Presets capture the exact tonal qualities of famous artists’ instruments, from jazz great Dr. Lonnie Smith to Chuck Leavell (The Rolling Stones) to Gregg Rolie (Santana, Journey) and more. The sounds are not limited to just Hammond Drawbar tones. You may choose between the popular “Farf” and “Vx” transistor tones to transform the XK-5 (or A-3) into a swingin’ sixties combo organ. It doesn’t stop there. You can also choose a classical pipe organ division with 32 equivalent ranks of fine pipe organ voices.

Virtual Matching Transformer: In regards to the iconic Hammond sound, Tone-wheels and the Chorus-Vibrato scanner tell only a part of the tale. Our engineers’ research found all components in the signal chain play a vital role leading to the end product. The influence of the MATCHING TRANSFORMER provides a link to one of the Vintage Hammond’s most elusive qualities. All signals from the upper, lower, and pedal manuals passed through the matching transformer designed to “even things out” before the signal continued to the preamp. The transformer—a piece of iron with a coil wrapped around it—could “remember” some of its saturation based on how hard it had been working previously, thus affecting new notes played. Physicists call this hysteresis. Musically speaking, it affects how much “volume robbing” you hear and adds to what Hammond aficionados think of as the “breathing” quality of the organ. (The phenomenon is similar to why some recording engineers like transformer-equipped microphones and/or preamps for certain sounds.) In the XK-5, the matching transformer and its place in the signal chain is modeled precisely, and the saturation and hysteresis amounts are adjustable from barely-there to over-the-top. Like we said, we’re closing the final few millimeters of the realism gap.

Availability : SOLD in Bulgaria

Brand: Roland

Model: Jazz Chorus - 120

Year : 2000

Info : The great popularity of the JC-120 is based, among other things, on its optimal reproduction of the guitar's natural sound. Unlike most guitar amplifiers, which offer different types of distortion or other sound variations, the JC-120's highly advanced transistor technology focuses on the perfect, clean reproduction of the instrument's pures sound. This makes it absolutely perfect for keyboards or digital pianos.

The secret behind the amazing chorus effect that the Roland JC amplifiers are famous for is the twin-amp / two-speaker configuration. The signal is converted into a direct and a chorus signal. Each of these signals is then sent to one of the loudspeakers. The combination of these two sounds together with the reflections of the walls gives the famous chorus sound

Many dance musicians as well as keyboard players use it to this day and - interestingly - also by those from completely different musical styles, namely heavy metal Nju rock! Their cleansounds should always be ultra clean, a rule that no later than Metallica have defined - So still red hot!

Availability : SOLD in Italy

Brand: Korg

Model: Prophecy

Year : 1995

Info : Digital does analog! The Prophecy was among one of the first synthesizers to lead a revolution started in the mid-nineties by synthesizer makers to satisfy a growing segment of the market that was lusting after old-school vintage equipment in the pursuit of making electronica-style music, by providing a state-of-the-art retro synthesizer that could sound like a classic analog.

The Prophecy Solo Synthesizer was unveiled in 1995, and was a purely monophonic solo/lead synthesizer. It employed DSP synthesis first developed for the Korg OASYS synthesizer, with algorithms for producing realistic analog timbres, VPM (Variable Phase Modulation) tones similar to FM synthesis, and physically modeled brass, reed, and plucked string instruments. At your finger tips were tons of real-time control over traditional analog editing parameters like filter cutoff and resonance, envelopes and the arpeggiator. It had a pitch wheel, a mod wheel, an expressive dual action ribbon wheel, six effects processors and more!

Availability : Up for sale

Brand: Hohner

Model: Adam

Year : 1994

Info : Waldorf Electronics collaborated with German company Hohner — long established as a maker of more traditional musical instruments — as a technical development partner to allow this instrument to capably compete as a solo entertainer keyboard against the likes of Roland, Solton, and Yamaha who dominated this market segment. EMC, internationally recognised for the outstanding quality of its MIDI playback disks, was brought on board as another ace up Hohner’s sleeve.

Drawing stylistically from the Wave, Adam also has a central control unit with eight control elements assigned to a wide display, though the haptic feel of its wheels are almost perfectly matched to that of traditional drawbars, alluding to an ‘organ’ at first sight. Specifically developed for Adam, the wheels also serve as universal input units with a click mechanism. All eight wheels sit on a common axis. The readout is handled by light barriers.

A central, dark red-coated tube fittingly integrates the wheels’ form and also serves as a bass reflex tube for the integrated sound system. In front of the tube, directly above the keyboard, all performance-relevant control elements are made easily accessible to the performer. All available rhythm and sound modules are lined up on the panel behind the tube. Each sound module is designed in the form of a matrix. Their selection is logically sorted by genre or sound group. The individual table contents are backed with slightly contrasting colours and support the targeted selection of a rhythm or sound. The different shapes and colours of the keys show functional connections.

The shaping of the tube for the full-metal housing was extremely complex, and I would certainly choose a different manufacturing method today — especially for this element. The end caps are designed as segmented units with the rear part consisting of a solid aluminium plate, which also contains the cover of the bass reflex tube, while the front part’s real wood application connects the active playing area of the keyboard with the more technical rear part.

The name and logo represents a new beginning for Hohner in the electronic musical instruments market segment, combining modernity and tradition while clearly standing out from the competition. The light basic colour of the casing had an independent and zeitgeist-like effect, while the dark red tube is reminiscent of the colour worlds of traditional instruments.
