Le vélo de Dimitri [🇬🇧below👇]
Pour sa grande traversée de l’Europe, Dimitri voulait un vélo fiable, polyvalent et porteur de sens. Il tenait aussi à rouler sur une machine fabriquée proche de chez lui ... pari réussi puisque l'atelier ne se situe qu'à 15 km de son domicile .
Il passera des mois à arpenter routes secondaires et sentiers européens : le choix du Gravel s’est donc imposé naturellement.
Côté montage, nous avons privilégié la robustesse et l’efficacité :
• Transmission GRX 1x12 (820) pour la simplicité et la fiabilité
• Roues Swiss G1800, solides et prêtes à encaisser les kilomètres
• Pneus GravelKing X1 700x35c, rapides et accrocheurs
• Selle C17 Carved pour le confort longue distance
• Guidoline Brooks Microfiber
• Cintre Ergomax, pour une position stable et confortable
Le vélo sera complété par un montage en bikepacking : sacs de cadre, de selle et de cibtre pour l’autonomie nécessaire à cette aventure.
Un projet plein de sens:
Dimitri, pédiatre spécialisé dans les maladies infectieuses, a pris une année sabbatique pour concrétiser un projet qui lui tient profondément à cœur.
Fin mars 2026, il rejoindra Thessalonique (Grèce) en train, puis traversera l’Europe du sud au nord jusqu’à Stockholm avec son Zafi.
Dans chaque pays traversé, il donnera trois conférences adaptées à trois publics professionnels — agriculteurs, vétérinaires et médecins généralistes — afin de sensibiliser à la problématique de la résistance aux antibiotiques et à leur bon usage.
L’objectif final : réunir 100 000 € pour financer et implanter un laboratoire de microbiologie à Mbujimayi (Kasaï oriental, RDC).

For his European crossing, Dimitri was looking for a bike that could truly support the journey ahead. He also cared deeply about riding a bike built less than 15 km from his home — a conscious choice that adds meaning to every kilometer he’ll ride.
He’ll be spending months exploring secondary roads and trails across Europe, which made a gravel bike the natural choice.
For this build, we focused on reliability and long-distance comfort:
• GRX 1x12 (820) drivetrain for simplicity and dependable performance
• DT Swiss G1800 wheels, strong and ready for heavy mileage
• Panaracer GravelKing X1 700x35c tires, balancing speed and grip
• Brooks C17 Carved saddle for lasting comfort
• Brooks Microfiber bar tape
• Ritchey Ergomax handlebar for a stable, ergonomic position
The bike will be completed with a full bikepacking setup — frame, saddle, and cockpit bags — giving him the autonomy needed for such a long adventure.
A project with purpose.
Dimitri, a pediatrician specialized in infectious diseases, has taken a sabbatical year to dedicate himself to a project that truly matters to him.
At the end of March 2026, he will travel by train to Thessaloniki (Greece) and then ride from southern Europe all the way to Stockholm with his Zafi.
In every country he crosses, he will give three talks tailored to three professional audiences — farmers, veterinarians, and general practitioners — raising awareness about antimicrobial resistance and the responsible use of antibiotics.
The ultimate goal: to raise €100,000 to fund and implement a microbiology laboratory in Mbujimayi (Eastern Kasai, DRC).
