We are lucky to host again great children and youth independent author Joana Estrela, one of our favorites. Her cats and dogs books have been translated and published by a French editor, so finally we have them in Bimbi Books! We will do an interactive book reading, with a projection and sounds of the books, it is almost as if the books come to life.

These books are perfect for pre-readers, because they almost have no text, there are a few words with sounds around, but the story is there to follow in a comic format. Join us for this fun afternoon around great books and get your copy dedicated by author Joana Estrela.

This year, Instituto Cervantes has prepared once again a great literary event for the kids and we have the pleasure to be the official bookstore of the event 😁.

Please note, these activities take place in the Instituto Cervantes Bruselas (Av. Louise) and the registration needs to be done directly on their links. We will be present in these two storytelling/workshops with author Meritxell Martí and illustrator Xavier Salomó.:

🙈FRIDAY, JUNE 5. 5:00 PM "TICNIKS. WHEN PLUSH TOYS COME TO LIFE"
Ages 6 and up.

Ticniks look like simple plush toys, but with a magic formula, they can live for 24 hours. However, three essential rules must be followed, otherwise… “disaster strikes!”

In this storytelling session, the authors need a lot of help from the audience. We'll meet the endearing Ticniks and, with Meritxell Martí, create a new character by inventing its rules and the consequences for breaking them. Meanwhile, Xavier Salomó will draw this new Ticnik live.

🙉SATURDAY, JUNE 6, 10:30 AM "A CURIOUS CAT AND AN INCREDIBLE GRANDMA"

Ages 3 and up.

We'll explore the world of Minino, a playful and curious cat who has adventures in the most everyday settings: on a rainy day, at Christmas, at bath time, because with him, we'll discover that magic is in everything. Everywhere, in everyday moments. Even when putting on socks…

And we'll also explore Grandma's wonderful and horrifying house. This house is a rather special place, as it hides many surprises. You have to pay close attention to every detail, but be careful, you might get more than one fright! And above all, remember: look at the sky when it gets dark… because not everything is what it seems!

We have the pleasure of hosting again Joëlle. A multilingual storytime session for little ones will take place in the children’s bookshop, Bimbi Books. The activity, by “La valise à surprises”, features stories, little songs, told in French, Spanish, and sign language, and is suitable for children from 3 months old. Babies adore the stories from Joëlle, register quickly!

Time: 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM (approximately)

Location: Bimbi Books, 301 chaussée d’Ixelles, 1050 Ixelles

Languages: French, Spanish, and sign language

Recommended Age: From 3 months, all families are welcome

(Spanish below) Finally, a trilingual book! We will do the reading in Spanish, to introduce “Noah, un niño, dos países” by newly founded publishing house “Bicukids” based in Belgium and owned by women from Latin America with the purpose of creating books that bring together both worlds. In this book, Noah has parents from Peru and Belgium and he is going to visit Peru with his family and realise about the cultural differences in a fun way! Noah is richer having two cultures!

Join us next Saturday 30th, we will do a reading and a surprise activity! Come meet more multicultural families!

🎙️ My Dutch is far from good, but I enjoy the readings everytime, Thierry, native speaker himself, makes them fun. So are your kids in immersion? Do they have nederlands as a second language? All occasions are good to practice. Ben je klaar? (if you didn’t understand, seriously, come and start learning a bit!)
