Notice the cracks in the dustwiper of this shock. We don't know under which circumstances this dustwiper lived, all rubber seals deteriorate with age, sunlight, some cleaners, and so on...
But it's the most important seal of your air shock, its purpose: keep the dirt out of your air chamber. Even though this shock wasn't ridden much, it's very important to get it serviced before you start riding again! Otherwise, dirt will get under this seal and damage the shock.
All suspension needs a yearly service or more frequent (100 - 125 riding hours) if you ride regularly!
