It's a turtle delivering cough sweets, on two legs, and in the winter, when he probably should be hibernating. It's also a Belgian made tin for a Dutch company, making cough sweets for export. It could be a sample for a product that never was, because we've never seen another. 1950s or 60s. It's in our shop.

It's the Langestraat braderie this weekend. It's always a party atmosphere and today is the rommelmarkt \brocante. I forgot to take pictures, but here's a couple at least Shopping, music, food and drink. What's not to like? P.S. The red robot is a biro.

John Mayall died this week. I never met him but I feel very sad to hear that news. I was always hearing his name when I was growing up and my two elder brothers had been listening to him for longer than I can remember. This is one of his early self-made custom guitar creations. It was a failed project, given to my late brother Kenny by John's eldest son Gary. They were good friends for a while, starting at the same primary school. Anyway, Kenny and I both learned to play on it, despite the dodgy electrics and I finally got around to having it restored last year. When you get old you try to go back to the past sometimes don't you? It's one of my favourite things and connects me with so many memories, plus the electrics work. Finally.

It's the second Brugse Zandfeest of the year today, loads to see as usual, but I was so tired I went around on autopilot and forgot to take many photos. We didn't buy very much either, but I'm very happy with what we did buy. Oh well, there's two more to go for this year, so we'll see what August brings. There's another brocante in our neighbourhood today, on the Kazernevest, so we're off to that now.

The Tin of Badges has been unsealed. Nothing so dramatic as at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, but certainly lots of memories.

It's the first of the Langestraat brocantes today in Bruges. An early start, followed by tea and toast back home and now we're off to de Kelk for a boozy afternoon.
