Heavy metal testing of fish scales in Bangladesh is an important issue due to the presence of high levels of heavy metals in many water bodies, which can accumulate in fish and pose a risk to human health.
There are several organizations in Bangladesh that conduct heavy metal testing of fish scales, including government agencies such as the Department of Fisheries and the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), as well as private testing laboratories. These organizations use various methods to analyze the heavy metal content of fish scales, including atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy.
The Bangladesh government has also implemented various measures to control the contamination of water bodies with heavy metals, including the enforcement of environmental laws and regulations, the establishment of pollution control systems, and the promotion of sustainable aquaculture practices. However, despite these efforts, heavy metal contamination remains a significant problem in many areas of Bangladesh, and consumers are advised to exercise caution when consuming fish from contaminated water bodies
