There are ouds that take you to Oud-filled Mosques. Others to rain-soaked forests at dawn.

This one takes you somewhere altogether different.

Malaysian Oud opens with the unmistakable memory of dark-roasted coffee beans — not brewed, not served, but scorched. The kind you smell before you see, drifting from a roadside stall where the flame ran a little too long and nobody minded. There's a rawness to it. An honesty. A slight burn that doesn't apologize for itself.

It hits. That immediate, almost aggressive satisfaction of burnt coffee — the kind that clears your head, sharpens your thoughts, makes everything briefly, inexplicably right. Fresh smoke weaves through it. Not softening anything, just giving it movement.

And then, somewhere in the depth of it all, a quiet ghost of familiarity: Kopiko. That dark little coffee candy we all carried in our pockets at some point, pressed into our palms by an uncle or found at the bottom of a school bag. Not the sweetness of it — this oud has no interest in sweetness — but that depth. That roasted dark core that sat beneath the sugar.

The oud itself is unmistakably Malaysian. Alive. Slightly feral in the best way. It doesn't hide behind the coffee. The coffee doesn't hide behind it. They occupy the same space, unapologetically.

4 years after the legendary As'r, Here's a completely different Oud Oil with a whole another scent profile.

Truth to be told this basically reminds of dark roasted raunchy Coffee beans which has an oddly satisfying burnt coffee note with the notes of Fresh Smoke. With a deep inhale this kind of reminds of the dark side of Kopiko Cuppachino, the coffee candy we all had growing up. Albeit, not as sweet as that, as this is a Pure Oud Oil.

This is absolutely not the fragrance that's used on the Ghilaf, The cloth of Ka'bah. Oils used in the Kabah are way more expensive to say the least. We're talking Pure Oud Oils, Natural Rose Extracts, Etc.

However, Mukhallat Barbados resembles and reminds you of that. Very close to that smell but within a very affordable range.
