Ricky Ellcock will be signing his autobiography – Balls to Fly – on Saturday 13th December, at Brighton Market. It's the perfect Christmas gift for cricket fans or aviation enthusiasts.
Barbadian Ricky Ellcock had twin ambitions as a boy – to become a cricketer and fly airplanes.
In this hard-hitting and fascinating autobiography, Ricky tells the story of a Barbadian schoolboy who left his family and home behind to follow his sporting dreams. With a burgeoning reputation as one of the fastest bowlers in the land, Ellcock’s opportunity to play Test cricket for England was cruelly thwarted by injury. Plunged into depression and forced to pursue another career, a childhood interest in aviation was to be his salvation. Ellcock relocated to the USA and qualified as a commercial airline pilot, becoming the first black captain with Virgin Atlantic.
Balls to Fly is an extraordinary story of determination, endeavour and resilience.
