What are Loose Parts 🤔

Loose Parts are a collection of natural or man made small objects that can be rearranged, moved, redesigned, lined up or taken apart in a variety of ways. They have no clear intention or fixed purpose of what each piece represents.

Loose Parts Play develops a sense of independence based on the idea that when children are presented with a collection of small objects they have more opportunities to be creative.

As they explore the different pieces their curiosity sparks their imagination allowing children to discover new ways of playing.

Loose Parts play can encourage language development through role play and enhances fine motor skills. It builds creative thinking through problem solving and curiosity.

Some other great ideas of how to use our Little Whimsy Pieces are:

- pattern matching and extension
- colour and shape sorting

We now have a very limited spring release of botanical dyed silks live on our website!

Our botanical dyed silks are only available while stock lasts, until our next limited addition seasonal release in Autumn 🍁 and Spring 🌸 next year!

Producing our Little Whimsy Range sustainably is our priority and something that has taken us a great deal of dedicated time 🤍

We dye our silks using fallen leaves and flowers, mostly from the branches we forage for our Tree Blocks and Forest Folk 🪵 We love being able to find these natural treasures and turn them into quality products that allow complete freedom for children’s imaginations 💭
