We get a lot of questions, and we love it! Here are some of the ones that come up most often.

▪️ Is distilled water the same as filtered water?
No - and this is a big one. Filtered water removes some contaminants but typically still contains dissolved minerals. Our distilled water goes through a process that removes those dissolved solids, bringing it to less than 5 parts per million. That's a very different product.

▪️ Can I use distilled water in my CPAP if I've run out and only have tap water?
Once in a while won't cause immediate damage, but it's not ideal. The minerals in tap water will start building up inside your humidifier chamber. Keep a bulk supply at home so you're never in that position.

▪️ How often should I change the water in my CPAP humidifier?
Every day. Empty the tank each morning, rinse it, and refill with fresh distilled water before your next use. It takes two minutes and makes a real difference.

▪️ Do you deliver outside Sydney metro?

Why do autoclaves need distilled water? It's a question we get asked a lot, so here's the simple version.

An autoclave sterilises equipment using high-pressure steam. To create that steam, it heats water - usually in a chamber or reservoir inside the machine.

When tap water is used, the dissolved minerals it contains don't evaporate with the steam. They stay behind. Every cycle, those minerals get left inside the machine, on heating elements, inside the chamber, through internal components.

Over time that build-up does a few things:
▪️ It affects the efficiency of the heating elements
▪️ It can cause inconsistent sterilisation cycles
▪️ It leads to increased maintenance and servicing needs

Here's one a lot of people don't know about distilled water - it's actually the recommended choice for topping up your car's coolant system.

When you mix coolant with water in your radiator, the quality of that water matters. Tap water contains dissolved minerals - calcium, magnesium, silica - that over time can cause scale to build up inside the radiator, on the water pump, and through the cooling system.

That scale reduces the efficiency of heat transfer, can contribute to corrosion, and in the long run leads to cooling system problems that are expensive to fix.
