End of an era…

Huge & heartfelt thanks 🫶🏽

To Nick, Amanda & Troy ~ what a wonderful venture we took a chance on almost 7 years ago and what a special space we created & nurtured!

To our amazing Open House team ~ Naomi, Jimmy, Prita, Leecee & Katie ~ your support, commitment, care & creative input is immensely appreciated & valued.

To all of the talented, creative people behind the many small brands & businesses we’ve housed, some since we opened ~ thank you so much for trusting us to showcase & share your wares over the years!

To our wonderful community ~ of fellow small businesses, in West End & beyond, of customers, friends & supporters, far & wide… people that value small, independent enterprise, locally made & First Nations fashion, thoughtfully, ethically made products and the stories & people behind them ~ thank you all.

I’m so very grateful for this chapter in my life.
For the opportunity to express myself creatively in this beautiful & inspiring space, and also, mostly, the opportunity to nurture community connections and support other people in their creative endeavours.

It’s been a fun, full & fabulous time!

We’re excited that the space will evolve in the new year with .au opening in February 2026.
Celebrating and showcasing a range of First Nations products by Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander designers, artists, makers & entrepreneurs, 73 Vulture St, West End, will continue to offer an important & meaningful contribution to the community.

Thank you all for your support, as the space transitions to Aboriginal Art Co, and for the past many years as Open House.

Our beloved Naomi!!! 🙌🏽

One of the original inspirations, Naomi was the first local maker I thought of when we started pondering Open House. Her thoughtfully, ethically and BEAUTIFULLY made clothing was exactly the type of small, local brand we wanted to showcase in our space!

Naomi has been with us since we opened almost 7 years ago… She’s dressed countless people and gathered an avid community of lovers! She’s assisted many happy customers in store, sharing her design & sewing expertise and has kept the space looking fab with her creative eye & masterful merchandising!

Naomi has continued to build her sustainable fashion brand over the years and you’ll find her popping up at many local Brisbane Design markets such as the market & market.

Naomi also contributes her dressmaking experience & talent to the Queensland Ballet, where she’ll continue to work on amazing, elaborate costumes in 2026.

Thankfully she is well and truly local to West End, so I’ll still get to see her next year 😘

The latest print from the .au X Quandamooka collection just arrived and it’s beautiful ~ My Island Home by Dean Tyson 🏝️

We’re open 9am to 6pm. I’m in store this morning and it’s our beloved Naomi’s last shift at Open House this afternoon - pop in for a chat with and for any last minute shopping too.

Everyone’s fave, Jimmy! 🙌🏽

We’re so lucky to have had Jimmy as part of the OH team! This multi-talented local creative has filled the shop with a variety of goodies from clothing to jewellery, homewares to accessories, art of all sizes and of course his warmth & generosity.
He juggled a bunch of other creative pursuits alongside - teaching & tutoring, sewing samples for Magpie Goose, behind the scenes work for various artists projects & popping up at regular Brisbane artist markets. Not sure if the words out, but you’ll likely find Jimmy at another fave little West End retail space next year 😉

Always smiling & always helping someone… to know him is to love him ❤️
