Making dahlia lasagne
There’s lot of different ways to store dahlia tubers- we’ve found using potting mix and storing them in crates works best for us 👍

Dahlia ‘Cafe au Lait’ a definite crowd favourite! This year threw such a variety of caramel, peach and pink tones- romance on a flower head 🌸🩷

Dahlia ‘Coorabell Moonglow’- an absolute favourite on the farm! Flowers its head-off all season with the longest strongest stems and full blooms! I’ll definitely be growing more of this beauty next season. Hopefully I’ll have enough tubers to share too because this one is another must-have for the cut flower garden.

Dahlia ‘Glenmarc Margaret’ was an absolute workhorse in the dahlia garden this season. Beautiful soft baby pink blooms on a tall lush plant.
I would absolutely recommend this beauty in any cutting garden.

Flower farming fails- 2 years ago I captioned this pic as ‘My first peony- hope it’s not my last’ …and it was 🤣

I got 3 absolutely gorgeous blooms from one of 5 plants I had in a tiny trial patch. Safe to say I’ve taken peonies off my cut flowers ‘Grow List’ on our micro flower farm- I blame my climate not the fact I forgot about them over summer. They’re still in the ground but I don’t have much hope!

I’m interested to know what flowers have been taken off your Grow List in your garden?? I’ll stick mainly in the dahlia grower category I think

My tip is if you don’t have perfectly draining soil then lift your dahlias!
We have raised beds on a clay base. I’ll be lifting our plants over the next few weeks and while I’ll wash and divide lots as I go, there’s no problem with leaving them with soil on in the shed for a while.

We’ll be lifting, dividing and talking all things dahlias in our June workshop. There’s still a few spots left- head over to our website if you’d like to join us (and take home a generous handful of tubers!)
