This is a memory from 3 years ago. The first weekend of The Slab Lab at our first location behind Liebig Street.

The crew in this photo are the same crew that support us today! Through the Highs and lows, the move, the fit outs, the expansions, product selection and development, promotion, content, this crew has been with us every step.

Not only that, they all charge and keep pushing the boundaries everyday.

We are having a much needed break!

After 2 years full time in the shop and working our “actual jobs” we are taking a short break.
slablab.store will be closed from May 26th until May 31st. We will reopen as normal the following week commencing Tuesday 2nd June!

So it’s only 1 week without us. We know it will be tough but we love you all and will be back on deck before you know it!

We had a trio of legends in store today to fuel up before heading out on another tuna mission 🎣

I’ve been in contact with .lucy for a while now after she kindly did an interview for .magazine on charging big waves, photography, fishing, flying choppers and being an all round bad ass.

It was amazing to finally meet Lucy in the flesh today and chat about bodyboarding, fishing and life.

Lucy is travelling with her partner & their mate Billy. Most of you will know Shane, a Hellman that charges some of the wildest slabs in the world. He’s also obsessed with fishing & is a genuinely good bloke.

Wishing them all the best tonight with reeling in a big tuna and keeping all their devices inside the boat, 😝

This wave is so beautiful to watch and has many moods. This was a solid day at the spot with a few locals and a few visitors sharing bombs and having a good time.

There were a few skis in the water which is standard procedure at this spot. A few in water photographers and a few land photographers. And of course a crew of surfers and bodyboarders that share a passion for slab surfing.

It functions like a well oiled machine most of the time. Everyone gets to know everyone and a community develops.

Swimming around with camera housing on this day was a challenge as there was some big clean up sets that washed through the channel. As a surfer of bodyboarder, swimming around without a board is something to get used to. It can be a blessing and a curse.

There were a few sketchy moments where the decision to scratch over a set or wait and try to get under them was made in a split second and thankfully paid off…just. Scratching under with the lip clipping the end of the flippers and dragging you back, Only to surface and see the second set wave was bigger. Gets the heart pumping….😵‍💫

Alls well that ends well and got a few shots and some footage out of it. Spent some time with some good people and got to climb a few hundred steps to get out. 🫰🏻
