We’ve had a lot of rain lately, and the little “frog bog” at the Showgrounds is looking more like a wetland. 🌧️

Then this visitor turned up.

We think it might be a great egret. Any bird people want to confirm? 👀

The weather was perfect 👌

Spring is starting to show itself around our little urban homestead 🌸🐝

Our two almond trees are in blossom, which means the garden is beginning to hum again.

We don’t move our bees away to almond plantations for pollination. They stay here in town, following the seasons with us and foraging on whatever is flowering in our garden and around our local area.

Right now, that includes our own almond blossom.

There’s something lovely about watching the garden wake up again. New flowers, busy bees and the promise of another growing season ahead.

Welcome, spring. We’ve been waiting for you. 🌱

If you enjoy following the seasons with us, stick around and follow our Australian urban homestead. Or better still, put your phone down for a little while and go see what’s flowering in your own garden. 🌸

You’ve got to start somewhere.

It’s always been a dream of mine to learn how to sew. So I’m starting off simple. This is my very first project. It is a rectangular bookmark with pinked edges and medium weight interfacing. Last week I didn’t even know what interfacing was.

Once I master my corners, I will have a go at a sewn edge bookmark with a ribbon. The type that you have to turn inside out. Baby steps.

We’ve had quite a few new followers here lately, so firstly, thank you and welcome!

There’s been plenty happening behind the scenes too, with some new products starting to take shape.

For the kitchen, for the bookshelf and for around the home.

Any guesses what we’ve been making? 👀

Stick around and follow along as we keep building, making and sharing life on our Australian urban homestead.
