Somewhere in the Sunshine has moved to Maclean, near Yamba! Melanie Solecki has been handed the reins on this wonderful product, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and will be opening her medicinal plant nursery and Chalk Paint business at Easter. Melanie is my absolute favourite and trusted creative and I’m delighted and excited for her. Stay tuned for her launch and many inspiring posts to come. Love, love, love Annie Sloan!

And done! Rococo with English Yellow lights🥳 The drawer is painted with Tyrian Plum. I’d already painted the interior with Napoleonic Blue and Emperors Silk to get the Tyrian Plum look -so… I’ve left it looking handcoloured😂 The ‘hint of pink and yellow’ look matches my summer vibe atm.

Next steps on the rococo (must spell it right😂) cupboard. As you can see as you swipe, the end result is a luxurious velvety coating. I’ll finish with clear wax to seal (and darken slightly which brings up the hint of pink).

Ok so yes.. definitely needed to give the table a revamp as well. Painted the bottom half in Cambrian Blue to match the chairs and Oxford Navy on top. The Satin paint just glides over the Emperors Silk chalk paint- (which has worn extremely well for 8 years on our verandah!) And done in a few hours-ready for Sunday breakfast 💕

I always feel like painting on a rainy day. I know it takes longer to dry, but it’s one of my fav rainy day things. These chairs originally in Old Ochre needed some pizzazz, so I chose Cambrian Blue in Annie Sloan’s Satin paint-no waxing required👍 It’s for our veranda setting on our Queenslander - ready for summer days. I’ve had this little coffee table for a while and decided it was time for a revamp. So I painted Graphite and Athenian arty things on the legs and then oiled the legs with Tung oil. The oil soaked right in. I love the matte look of the newly nourished wood. Then I put a transfer on the top and a few coats of Clear Gloss lacquer for durability, but I think a coat of Matte lacquer will be next- to compliment the legs. Unfortunately, I was getting it ready for the Roadshow- which has now been cancelled🥲 oh well…

Somewhere in the Sunshine is an elegant space that encourages the customer to find their creative flair, take a chance and embrace this ‘new’ chalk paint into their home/studio/workplace. Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is revolutionary. Although it was created in the UK in 1990, it’s relatively new to Australia. It is fast becoming the new ‘go to’ for anyone who wants to change their space, give old furniture a new look and have it done in a shabby chic French feel. Because it washes out in water and has no paint fumes, it makes you want to get stuck in and get on with it! The fact that it adheres to pretty much everything, from glass to metal (and very shiny surfaces), there’s absolutely no need to sand away varnish or prep in any way, except a quick wipe down of any dirt before you start. Our chalk paint can also be used to dye fabrics, or paint straight onto your chair etc without going through reupholstering the piece. It’s sooo easy!

We also sell fabulous furniture that has been painted and offer workshops so that you can paint your own furniture with confidence. We are a stockist of the best Royal Design Studios stencils that will transform your walls, floors and furniture and Iron Orchid Designs stamps, transfers and silicon moulds.
