A quick update from Matt’s wife & partner.

Over the last few weeks you’ve probably noticed things have been a little up and down behind the scenes at Steve Forrest Music.

We now have some answers: Matt has significant blockages in his heart, and right now his health is the priority.

The positive news is the shop is still OPEN and trading. We’ve got support in place and we’re incredibly grateful for the people who have stepped in to help keep things moving while Matt focuses on treatment and recovery.

A special thank you to Mum, who has been an absolute rock and has jumped in to help not just us, but the wider community that relies on this little music shop.

So this is my ask: please keep coming in. Every visit, every purchase, every lesson booking and every message of support genuinely helps. Your loyalty over the years has built more than a business — it’s built a community, and we’re feeling that support deeply right now.

Thank you for your patience while we navigate appointments, procedures and the unknowns that come with heart issues. We finally have some answers, and with answers comes a plan and a whole lot more hope.

Come and join us on the 20th of June for a workshop on restringing your acoustic guitar. We’ll provide a free set of the new Elixir “Attune” acoustic strings for 12 customers. We will have an in-store sign in sheet on the day available from 11:45am for a midday start. We will also cover the basics of setting up your guitar for its best playability.
