THE $29 million proposal on a vacant block in Torquay will go ahead, following a ruling at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).

Introducing Belinda Sharrok founder of Winki Zinc

Three years ago, ocean enthusiast Belinda Sharrock was surfing alongside turtles and burning under the tropical sun in Sri Lanka when a business idea came to mind.

“I have always had an entrepreneurial streak - a head full of ideas about how to change the world but nothing that really took off,” says Belinda.

Her long stint on the island changed that. Spending everyday in the water made Belinda realise her sunscreen washed off and caused unintentional harm to the beautiful coral reefs. She decided to experiment and form her own non-toxic zinc that proved to work better than traditional sunscreens, and actually improved the condition of her skin. When people started asking her to make it for them, Winki Zinc was born.

A “small local business with a big smiley heart,” Winki Zinc is a range of tinted SPF 30 sun balms that are sustainable, non-toxic and made right here in Australia.
