Are you introducing your child to sensory play? This completely edible sensory play tray is a great way to start and one of my factories on rotation when my kids were little!
This whole tray can be broken down into easy and taste safe ingredients with nothing raw or toxic!
Seaweed: Cooked pasta. Add green food dye to your boiling water & drain and rinse completely when cooked. Leave to cool
Water: Low sugar blue jelly (or agar agar/gelatine) set as per instructions and spread out in pieces to resemble water.
Sand: Crushed baby cereal or kids weetbix. Watch your younger bubs with this, as while it is completely edible, dry cereal can be a bit, well dry! Ha
Stones & pebbles: I use gelatine, milk (or coconut milk) and colour with coco.
Coral: I used coloured jelly set with less water (about half the amount so that its firmer & keeps shape) but you could cut fruit like watermelon or strawberry if you’ve safely introduced these foods.
Then, feel free to add tools but honestly your child’s own hands are the best tools here!
