5 Reasons why Musical Instruments are important for children.
Being able to play, touch and make noise with a variety of wooden and natural element musical instruments helps our kids learn in so many ways.
Babies, toddlers and older children all benefit from musical play.
1. It speeds up brain development - particularly in the language, speech, listening and reading development.
2. Sensory Development - it helps children able to create and explore with music and sounds, it helps create pathways in the brains. Children also learn better with wooden and other natural elements.
3. Builds on Fine-motor and Gross skills - opening, closing builds on fine motor skills, banging and shaking helps with Gross motor skills. Using different variety and sized instruments are will give them all rounded development.
4. Improves Self-confidence and decision making - what sounds do they like, which keys should they press and how do they make it sound good. These are all questions they will learn to answer themselves.
5. Improves Listening Skills - as time passes children will try experimenting with the instrument to make it sound the way they like it which in turn improves their ability to be patient and listen.

Positive parenting tips for the holidays.
The holiday season is upon us and for parents it can be a joyous and challenging times with young children. Here are some holiday tips for parents that might lessen the stress.
1. De-brief before the event- Some rules can be mentioned and what can be expected from the event. Eg- who will be there, what to eat, some dinner behaviours etc
2. Have a Code word - Children can use this word if they feel overwhelmed and need a break. Eg- they can use this word without letting other people know if the request is slightly embarrassing in front of other people.
3. Plan according to your child’s temperament - Eg- introverted might get overwhelmed with big gatherings and need a calming time during. Extroverted children might love the attention and the festivities and might have a big reaction while leaving. Parents can manage these expectations and try to meet their needs before hand.
4. Our Expectations - sometimes we might expect a lot from the kids even knowing that mostly adults, other children and their pets might be at the gathering. We can try and make a space for them to do their own thing.
5. Encourage Gratitude, but don’t force it- Eg- we can thank someone who gives your kids some gifts on their behalf until they understand what it means and so they will be able to reciprocate in these situations.
6. Do not force affection - kids learn consent in simple ways. Eg- discuss with your child and what they are comfortable with so to handle these situations.
7. Try not to Rush- it can be overwhelming for kids to be taken in tow to and from events and gatherings. It can be stressful for them so allow more time if you can.

Thank you for these tips.

Time is so valuable for any women especially a busy mum, there never seems to be enough of it. Unfortunately mums tend to think about themselves last and sometimes it never makes the list to do things in a day.
Sometimes over time you end up doing more harm than good.
Here are some ideas on how to carve out a few minutes for yourself mama!
1. Do something physical - a short walk, stretch, yoga are all good…

2. Boost your brain - Meditate, write a journal or read a book.

3. Pamper your self - Hot bath, have a nap, mani pedi, short facial or go all out on a spa day.

4. Talk to your friends- meet up and just spend some time with them.

5. Do what you love- maybe you used to love to paint, do pottery or dance anything for 15mins a day will do wonders.

6. Get silly - maybe with your partner have a game night, play with wii, dance in your PJs.

7. Relax and Unwind - perhaps drink your favourite tea or snack, wear your favourite body lotion.

8. Make a plan - plan your day to fit some of these things in a day.
Let us know if there are ways that helps you cope!

A study found that women say they start caring for children, on average, around 6 a.m. each day, and clock off after 8 p.m. Add in tantrums, nursing sessions, cleaning, play dates, drop-offs, school forms and millions of micro events in between. (And that's a 'good' day, of course—without sleep issues or illnesses or middle-of-the-night musings about the color of dinosaur tails...) So of course we're exhausted and sometimes it’s ok to ask for help and take an afternoon off for yourself!
It’s ok to take time to go to the gym or catch up for coffee.
It’s ok if your partner looks after the children for the afternoon while you take a much needed break!
To all the mum’s out there it’s hard but a rewarding job!
